Illini Women's Basketball 2024-2025

Yes she is last I knew her final four was is down to Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and Maryland.
I'm thinking it's really ILL-INI or Maryland and she knows we are losing 5 seniors so that's no less than 125 minutes to be had.We got facilities and a great atmosphere. We have great coaches and we could add that last Divine piece, man that would just keep them rolling in...I hope we are in good with the Kaelyn Carroll kid as well..

Illini need to recruit Divine Bourrage, Parchment, Hays and few other top freshmen plus/or add top quality missing pieces through transfer process, if they genuinely expect to compete for B1G or national championships. While Green's 3rd Illini team may be her best yet it still isn't good enough to contend with teams like USC, UCLA or OSU in Big Ten, much less bluebloods like Connecticut, South Carolina, LSU, Texas, Notre Dame, Stanford, etc. With basically the same 4 starters as last couple of years this team is very close to their ceiling. Maybe they will play slightly better than last two years with improving and better talent like Warren, Vasconcelos, Catoira, Brown. But I don't expect them to significantly exceed what they have accomplished the last two years, though they do have a chance to make the NCAA tournament this season if everything falls into place and they win the games they should win. They are entertaining to watch when they are hitting on all cylinders and I hope to see a few pleasant twists this year and a deeper rotation.

My opinion exactly - Unless McDonalds AA Berry Wallace can give us 14 ppg 10 rbg year 1. We have to replace Camille Hobby who arrived 9 ppg 5 rbg in 20 mpg last year.

I honestly don't think Wallace will do 14 and 10 but I'm not short selling the two new bigs to give 14 and 10 combined and Wallace having 8 an 4 plus two assists, while Brown Haggar 5 and 2. I'm thinking Gretchen will get 9 or 10 points as well. None of this is outlandish predicted output..We could say that Cori Allen upgrades her production.Shay Bollin took a rotation spot last year. She didn't play to her top 30 ranking, but I think she overthinking at times about previous injuries. This might be her breakout 3pt shooting year. We have great potential contributions plus rock solid senior experience and continuity. Any coach in America could have more than a good season with this team, but I think we have a great coaching staff and I'm excited and expecting great results..I'm sure they are too. Just look at their last press conference when they were collecting the first ever postseason championship...

Uh Indiana came within 2 points of beating South Carolina in the tournament this year if you might remember.,So Iowa has been in the Championship game the last two years.. Indiana and Ohio State have been ranked No.1 within the past two years.. Illinois clobbered Indiana last year . And we got all of our players back, plus size and wing help, and backcourt help..No disrespect to UCLA or USC or Oregon they have history and great talent this year, but Maryland, Rutgers,Iowa, Purdue and others in this B1G league can equally speak about their teams like LSU Notre Dame,..They have titles and present accomplishments..I would love to get those players to sustain the excellence you will see from this year's version of the team with the longest existing winning streak and postseason WBIT tournament champion..( Bye the way they beat all of the one seeds to win too..)

Uhh I didn't say this team would win the B1G title or a national championship, even though they did win the first ever national tournament title for ILL-INI women basketball history..lol Because I included the new teams I placed our team somewhere between 3rd and 6th....I said in my opinion the teams ceiling would be Elite 8.

You also predicted they would win between 25-29 games this season. If that is true, that is in the running for the Conference Title. See if it changes this season but 25-29 wins have won a regular season title for a real long time.......

I don't believe they can win the regular season title but definitely a big second tier after the top dog or two

Yeah that does suck.....But we got one All American and there's 25 so... Let's hope we rack up some more 4 stars, and who knows what might happen in the portal merry go round..It seems like LSU sheds great players as well as they get them... I hope she does well except against us...Man they must despise her in Iowa now..jus kidding..

That's sad. Bourrage is type of go-to player you need to win some games.

Only one I have been sad about missing out on after all the time involved. Never know how talent translates from one level to another......she has the "it" factor

Hopeful Green has comparable players up her sleeve or will have enough NIL money to compete with the better programs in portal.
Green will land some good players between recruiting and transfer portal. LSU, South Carolina, etc. have the luxury to swoop in later during the process. NIL money and prestige we will be second fiddle. That being said Green & Co. work their rears off and already have eyes on recruits 2-4 years out.

Time for Destiny to bring some friends down the road....

Illini ranked #25 on the ESPN Way Too Early Top 25
https://www.espn.com/womens-college...-basketball-way-too-early-top-25-2024-25-poll

25. Illinois Fighting Illini

Previous ranking: 24

The 2023-24 regular season did not meet expectations in Champaign, but the run to the inaugural WBIT championship did show the capabilities of Shauna Green's veteran team. The top four scorers, including fifth-year seniors Makira Cook (16.4 PPG), Genesis Bryant (14.2 PPG) and Kendall Bostic (12.1 PPG, 10.9 RPG), are back to build on that performance.
