Thank you.I don't think that Bollin will play. She has been injured most of her time here and at Duke. She went to Duke with a. Injury history. I would love to see her play because she has been all in on her teammates.and earned minutes when healthy but,it just seems like her degree is the best thing for her to get at Illinois.
If her injury is, indeed, career ending, the university can revoke her athletic scholarship but must replace it with a different type of full-ride scholarship. The advantage to that is that the university can again award the athletic scholarship which would allow it to have 15 healthy players on the roster. Though the athlete continues to have her education paid for, she could lose access to any rehab services that she now receives and possibly her athletic related health insurance. All college athletes have to have their own health insurance to be eligible to play any sport. If the injury was suffered while at U of I, the school will pick up any expenses that are not covered by her primary care. At least those were the rules for my kids when they played in the Big Ten a few years back.If her injury is, indeed, career ending, the university can revoke her athletic scholarship but must replace it with a different type of full-ride scholarship. Yeah, she gawn.Shay Bollin?
I will keep my faith in Coach Green & Josh Whitman to keep her on full full athlectic scholarship. If her injury is, indeed, career ending, the university can revoke her athletic scholarship but must replace it with a different type of full-ride scholarship. Well, that was timely! Best of luck Shay.
Shay was ready to play for the Big Tournament, but there was no use in burning a year of eligibility for a few games. She got a med redshirt for last season. Which really won't matter if the NCAA changes to the 5 years of eligibilityI don't think that Bollin will play. She has been injured most of her time here and at Duke. She went to Duke with a. So, she should have two years to play at her new school? Hope that it works out for her. Look for Illinois to have two official visitors soon from the portal.Shay was ready to play for the Big Tournament, but there was no use in burning a year of eligibility for a few games. I wouldn't be surprised to see her end up at Richmond. Samantha Dewey transferred there & they seemed pretty close.I'm wondering where will she go? And who would take her given every year in college she has been injured.I do wish her well. My thoughts are Illinois is adding something to that slot.
It looked like she has never recovered from her HS injuries. Sad because she was a very good HS player. So, she should have two years to play at her new school? Hope that it works out for her. Look for Illinois to have two official visitors soon from the portal.
I find it odd redshirt players are eligible for football bowls and playoffs but not for basketball. it’s not like stars are RS.Shay was ready to play for the Big Tournament, but there was no use in burning a year of eligibility for a few games. Oh wow that would be cool because I live 3 miles from the Spiders and my youngest daughter is applying for college there..I wouldn't be surprised to see her end up at Richmond. Samantha Dewey transferred there & they seemed pretty close.

Best of luck to Shay, most of all I hope she gets healthy and can get back on the court. Having low back pain at a young age is no fun. I believe she is from the Boston area and there are many great schools in the northeast that I am sure she can play at if her health permits. Seemed like a great teammate. It looked like she has never recovered from her HS injuries. Sad because she was a very good HS player.
Did not show much rebounding or defense despite her size and Illinois lack of same.
Hope she gets more playing time at a smaller school.
She was a lottery ticket that did not payoff. As our recruiting has improved on both MBB and WBB we can take less of these types and more already proven players in portal.
