Dolan needs to shoot the ball better from three or quit taking them
I too hope we can start to get more productive minutes from the bench. Berry and Gretchen were gassed at the end. Next up we will face the Ohio State press on Wednesday. Need to count on minutes from the bench to handle it.
Let's go! Keep that Fighting Illini spirit that you displayed today steady and strong.
You must have been watching a different game than me. I counted 10. MSU only played 9. Our bench played 54 minutes. MSU played 60 only because they had an injury.
And we won the 4th quarter for the 2nd hard fought game in a row.

The problem is Maddie needs to be involved in the end, especially when Dolan is missing.
Also, Lety need to make a bucket and get a rebound. What good is the 6’7” otherwise
Agreed good effort. Team kept fighting back. Entertaining game again.
MSU had a great defensive game plan. Great help defense. Always seemed to be 2-3 bodies clogging up the paint. Other way, it seemed there was less team defense for Illini; or maybe better spacing for Spartans. MSU did very well in the paint, especially van slooten- probably an easier win if she didn’t get hurt. Hope they are working on doubling in the paint - hard for me to criticize with their record but would be good to throw in when needed.
Webber was awesome. Breaking press/shooting. Keep building.
Was hoping to generate more Wallace looks, especially first half.
I like coaches playing Destiny in foul trouble again- keep learning as freshman how to play different/stay in the game.
Thought guyton looked good again.
Report from East Lansing: you could tell we were gassed from the Maryland game after a short turnaround, they really got after us in the low post. We had no answer for VanSlooten and frankly our comeback was only possible because she was hurt. MSU looked totally different after that, especially on the offensive boards.
Destiny Jackson is maybe the most fun Illini athlete to watch that's currently enrolled in any sport. My goodness does she absolutely fly around the court. Team was much more dynamic with her on the floor; the foul trouble was another factor.
We're not a very deep team and MSU just wailed on us when we had 2 or more starters out.
Was nevertheless really impressed with the fight from a young team battling fatigue against a quality opponent on the road. One thing I was trying to impress on my buddy at the game was how they always seem to play with the mentality that the score is 0-0 until it gets to endgame scoring scenarios.
My faith in Shauna Green remains unshakeable

You are 100% correct !! This was only one of a few that the officials got correct on Sunday. Shauna was not pleased, nor were the rest of us that were there at Breslin dressed in orange.

I love the team but believe me this team has a CHANCE to win all the games but as long as they don't give away games they're doing great.. This wasn't a giveaway but a hard fought loss that the youngest team in the league will learn from.
Agree. They fought back valiantly but then appeared to stall by going to some old (beginning of the game) habits.
If they can just get serviceable minutes from the 9 or 10 deep bench players while adapting a bit more to how the team is being guarded, I feel the same was you.
But Maddie should be an option for adapting to the defensive scheme. She’s our best combination of speed, athleticism, skills, size and shooting, bar none.
MSU game should provide very good film for that.

Indeed, this is BS they played a heck of game on the road at MSU with homer calls and spotty officiating and only lost by 6. That is OK though give tOSU the business on Wednesday and keep stacking wins and the accolades will come, and deservedly so!!
That's ridiculous, if I'm being honest. 13-2 with a top-100 SOS and a top ten win.

That is garbage voting,but it's par for the course with all the Illini teams...I'm not too worried about it because this team can really play,.. Once this team gets more jell and a little less foul trouble from the freshmen... I can't wait..
The Ohio State game might be the toughest game imo because that's all game press,plus they may have a speed merchant that matches destiny but I think we can score.ore in the paint but they are a fast tempo team.
