We were down 2 with 10 seconds left. Final 81-75 score does not reflect how close it was.

I was wrong on how many players played. I watched the game delayed and only remembered the starters and Maddy - my bad.

Issue is our bench beyond Maddy was ineffective.

Aaliyah was alright. Lety was way too slow to guard anybody on MSU. I’m sure that’s why Naomi and Irene got the call.

The Ohio State game might be the toughest game imo because that's all game press, plus they may have a speed merchant that matches destiny but I think we can score.ore in the paint but they are a fast tempo team.
I'm not too concerned with their press. Michigan State pressed us some but we only had 8 turnovers. We are averaging 12 turnovers on the season. I've also been impressed with our ability to attack the basket after we do break the press.

Lety is slow. Cece is about 30 pounds too light and two years too young to defend the bigger centers that we'll be facing in this conference. We are going to need Lety against players like Betts and Merkle.

I'm kinda looking at Lety as kinda rounding into shape.. It really takes like a year of healing her injury and like 3 months mental matching physical and some can get into real shape, others not so much.Next year will be better..lol.Consolation.

This year still looks like a tournament team, which is vastly more unbelievable than the last two football seasons.

I did think that the team would make the.. Earlier . Earlier this year I thought 9-9tournament but I thought we would need all of the freshmen, but this stagger that occurred could be way more beneficial,.I wouldn't write this year off but my mind says next year is gonna be awesome... But this year l believe they will take lumps and climb heights and next year stay on a higher plane . Earlier this year I thought 9-9 in conference and semifinals in the B1GI tournament.I still believe the semis of the tournament but I think they will be 13-5 or 14-4.....

I think they may have to play a little more to get acclimated to the game speed and find their way some.. I really believe that Naomi will get better and Laty and Aaliyah are just shaping up a little more. Maddie is just turning into awesome, but her defense is just not yet to the very steadying level of Brown Haggar.Brown Haggar has to get back to her offensive contributions of last year.. Destiny can zoom to the basket a few more times...If all this happens.....Oh my goodness pray for the B1G...lol

Jasmine plays good defense, can handle ball, rebounds and has mid range game. 5'9"
Good experience

Dolan and Berry are high usage players so even Maddy and Cearah struggle to get shots some games. Jasmin is far down the shooter list.

What would help is if Destiny could shoot higher percentage on her mid range jumpers. She can get open at will. Maddy should be shooting all the 3's instead of Dolan. Dolan is killer in mid range and layups.

I loved how we never gave up vs MSU despite trailing double digits for a lot of game. We are automatic for NCAA. Heck we made it 2 of last 3 years without all this talent. After beating MD and playing MSU within 2 on road I think we can handle anybody in B10. USC is down without JuJu and UCLA is weaker than last year.

Go Illini

1. More playing time and shots for Maddy. She is a one woman fast break. She is our best 3 pg shooter 47% . She has size and plays good defense.
2. Dolan is shooting 26% on 3 pointers. 4 attempts per game is too much. She is dead eye mid range.
3. Destiny is very good against press but is one man show. Maddy dribbles thru press and punishes them with layup as well. Maddie needs to be in game when other teams press.
4. We have other better 3 pg shooters - Berry 38%, Cearah 41% Maddy 47%.

OSU averages 14 steals a game and 25 points off of TO’s.

Cearah is quite the player already esp at her size and only a freshman. Just wow!

when I saw her play in a FIBA tourney after committing to the Illini I was impressed with her performance.....hope she stays an Illini
and accumulates numerous awards......I really really do..........

I have noticed that about Lety as well, she is very long but slow to react and has what appears to be bad hand eye coordination. When the ball gets in her hands, she fumbles it a lot, allowing the defense to recover. Do have to take in consideration that this is her 1st year here healthy and practicing so she is probably still acclimating to the speed of the game and physicality.

I’m impressed how the ladies identify one thing they each can work on, demonstrating accountability that we don’t necessarily “observe” from the men’s team due to coach speak. It might be there too but it’s nice to hear this is explicit with the women.

Not impressed by the interviewer asserting that Parchment was on the team last year to prepare for the OSU press 🤦‍♂️

Actually, I'm pretty sure she joined the team mid season last year without playing in games. Although I don't remember when we played OSU last season, or whether she was there yet.

I see. I guess she missed the OSU prep only was her point.

Her and Finney came somewhere in the beginning of the B1G schedule, but just because you saw it doesn't mean it's the same... But we do a have a one player press breaker in Destiny
