In the last 2 games Vasconcelos played 22 mins. She has 0 pts, 3 rbs, 4 fouls, 1 TO, and was a statue on defense. Just a little bit of defensive help from her and we win both games. We must get someone in the portal that can provide some defense in the post. Hopefully Alves can help there also.

At least defensively they're asking Vasconcelos (Smith too) to do something she never should have been recruited to do. When MN went 4 out, 1 in, MN dumped it in to Hart or Tonga and Illinois never gave any helped. Going solo 1 on 1 within 6' of the basket, MN coaches knew Illinois had limited ability to stop it, and they didn't stop it.

Then MN started the high pick and roll with Hart or Tonga. Illinois again, in their strict man to man, MN coaches said pick your poison out top, knowing Illinois would struggle. They did struggle even with Hart wearing the largest knee brace known to man. Parchment did have some success in guarding Hart.

Playing Vasconcelos or Smith in a zone, they'd have a shot at defending. Trying to play solo defense one-on-one with the talented 5's in the B1G, good luck with that.

the Illini have played their hearts out against 2 ranked teams in the last few days , coming close but unfortunate bounces , inept refs , etc snatched victory from our grasp..................injury bug bit us hard this year but stellar play from Wallace , Webber and our outstanding 2 frosh , Destiny and CeCe gives me hope for the rest of the season and the future........GO ILLINI !!!!

We will get either a 8-10 seed depending on the BTT results. Find a way to win 1 game in the NCAAS will give a huge bump to next year. Our youth/depth have hurt us in a few games toward the end of the season. Next year we will be stronger, deeper and better with a chance of getting seeded if everyone that is eligible to come back, comes back while adding another scorer to the lineup.

Just ran out of gas at end of season. Really need a mobile 5 and Dolan healthy

Rutgers fired Coquese Washington. The Scarlet Knights were the only other Big Ten school with an opening in the offseason when we hired Shauna Green.
She had some good years at Penn St. Made several NCAA tourneys, capped off by a S16 in 2014. Won the B10 multiple times. Things went south in her last few years, though. Never got it going at Rutgers.

Shawna needs to keep this core together as next year could be the best Illini team since the 1998 team that went to the Sweet 16.

Keys to next season improvement in order of priority

1. Return all B10 Berry, Cearah, Destiny
2. Get healthy Dolan back
3. Return complementary - Maddy, Aaliyah, Jasmine
4. Either add via portal, injured RS list or improved bench

a. B10 level center who can rebound, play post defense - candidates Manuela (injury) Letty (bench improve), Naomi (bench improve), portal?
b. Add length at guard to match Michigan, Iowa, MD size - candidates Erica Finney 6' (injury), Maddy 6' (move from bench role), portal

Well I have been a big fan of the NEXT YEAR people... It would have been more THIS YEAR, but I I believe we got shorted a lot of talent with the loss of the sharpshooter freshmen and I believe the most likely pro in Manuella (although Parchment has made a believer out of me me...We got 2 pros for sur..lol.).Of course the loss of our most gritty scorer in Gretchen hurt a lot.... With that said now I remember when the women won that BIT title. They went in at 14-16 ended at 19-15 and a title..This team goes into this tournament with a couple of great wins and some tough close losses to the teams in their path to the title game they can lose every game or win them all on the way to the title game...If they have a FanDuel net for the women to get to the title game I'm putting 20 bucks on it..We got great coaches and seasoned talent I'm thinking they have learned some lessons Strong games from Jaz Vasconcelos and Guyton will make it happen....

What’s up regarding re tonight’s game vs Wisconsin? I have an administrative meeting at church tonight. I’m going to be counting on Illinois Loyalty to cover for me.

Let’s get that 20th win and advance. I got a feeling it’s not going to be as easy as the last time we met. Play great defense and we should win. Let’s not fall behind early.

Illinois up 9 but want to give Oregon men's team a run for their money in 3-pt bricklaying.
