First win against a ranked team? Apparently ESPN doesn’t count those wins over Arkansas and Wisconsin. Lazy reporting or purposeful biased spin? 🤷‍♂️

Our Illini welcomed Oregon to the *real* Big Ten, tonight.

Yo, I feel like the United Nations is gonna send special investigators to Champaign-Urbana over the weekend…

CUZ OUR HOOP SQUAD GOT TOO MANY WEAPONS.

So many beautiful sequences of basketball. We straight up broke Oregon. We busted their ***es so hard, the last 8 minutes felt like a pickup game at the Y.

This has got to be one of the best 3 day stretches in Illini sports history, no? (And one of the worst, in Oregon’s 😬).

Eh, but on some real s—: a bunch of y’all owe the Humrichous family a recorded video apology and some flowers, maybe a gift card.
Ben H great game!

Watched it live but I’m going to have to replay that one. Everything came together in one game, the depth of a 9 man rotation, the shooting, fast break, wow.

The announcers sucked last night very pro Oregon. What else is new
I heard a lot of love for the Illini from the announcers during the game - after we got going, what else could they have done? (I guess they could have tried the disrespectful and uninformed "this is a total surprise performance" the Citrus Bowl announcers stuck with - they were noticeably biased.)

What? They were giving love to Illini all night long. People act like if the other team is mentioned at all they are pro that team. I actually want some info on other team as I know far less about it.

If you thought they were pro-Oregon, you’re probably better off just turning down audio listening to radio broadcast.

Totally agree. I’ve always liked Casey Jacobsen. West Coast guy who has done a lot of PAC 12 games, so likely knows more about Oregon than Illinois. But could tell he did his homework.

I honestly have zero idea what you're talking about. I actually really enjoyed the broadcast. Good information about both teams, a lot of background about the importance of the game coming in, emphasized just how the metrics showed the teams were evenly matched if the rankings didn't show it, and they kept the broadcast interesting even after the result was well out of doubt.

I'll take a broadcast like that all day, every day.

Seems like earlier in the season, when teams pressured us in the backcourt, we were satisfied to just get the ball over the timeline and hand it to KJ to set up in the halfcourt. Last night, we made Oregon pay heavily by breaking the pressure and then attacking relentlessly, especially Boswell. Not sure if it was the fact that KJ had to sit for so long so we could not just depend on him (because he is so good) or an emphasis by the coaches to attack, attack, attack. Whatever it was, it helped set the tempo and I'll take our chances in any game in which we can speed up the opponent.

I thought Casey Jacobsen was pretty bad but he's a Pac 10 guy, so it checks out.

genuine question, has this always been Tre White or has he really bought in to being an edg?
He’s always had these skills. Jacobsen actually used similar words about him to what I wrote awhile back about his play at USC when someone asked on here for description of his game. Now he’s older and playing on a good team and with great players around him, and he’s elevated his game to a new level.

100%...it's the Marcus Domask effect in that one of Marcus' coaches predicted he would flourish at Illinois because he would be surrounded by such good players. It allowed him to use his entire skill set instead of having to focus so much on scoring. Sounds counter intuitive, but it ended up providing him with even more scoring opportunities.

Haven’t seen him mentioned much, but was glad to see Riley get a couple late buckets including the 3. Am I the only one though that thinks he might be better served not bringing up the ball so much and initiating the offense while he’s struggling? Too often the result is just a weak-a$$ed drive that has very little chance to be successful or some shake and bake out beyond the 3-pt line that goes no where, fools no defender, and results in a worse shot than when he started. Would like to see him more in the flow of the offense with a few plays called for him to get things going. Take a little off his plate and just let him react.
