Yep, I've been playing this song since 1974 in the various bands I've been in. A classic that doesn't get the attention of American Band or Footstompin' Music . . .

This song is my all time fav by GFR........I played drums on it and had my double bass drum setup fully mic'd up......YAHOO............

I'm not trying to be confrontational but 3 games out of 12 won't cut for what we all aspire truthfully I was hoping riley would step up but he hasnt. However you are right there's still plenty of season left to play just some if not most of those games defensive Ben has been unplayable or a given bucket case in point mizzou game.i really hope going forward Ben and will can truly push themselves to be better cause that position truly is the missing link to go far in march.ILL
Brad disagrees with you 💯

The backwards-between-the-legs pass was fantastic, but this one had a higher degree of difficulty. Had to back the tape up because I lost the ball in real time. Saw KJ looking to the right, so I looked there, too. Then all of the sudden Morez had the ball....
I actually said to myself "what just happened?"

I saw GFR at the old Kiel center in St. Louis soon after this album came out........their warm up band was Iron Butterfly......wowsa....

my old band played around 10-12 songs from those 2 bands in our 3 set program........great memories.....it really really is......
Will always remember staying up until after 10PM on weekends to listen to the full version of In a godda da vida on WLS.

I actually agree about shooters needing to shoot.but any coach worth his wait in salt knows if said shooter can hit the broad side of a barn and plays the worst defense in illini uniform for years maybe other then the groce era.look man I understand he had a decent night no denying that and I'm not rooting against him but any coach will play the play the player that's going to win him the game and until tonight that hasn't been ben.im not saying not to give a shooter a chance to shoot but by your standing if we played Ben over morez in bragging rights that would have been a loss.ben brought nothing to that game other then points for mizzou it goes both ways.so youd give up morez development over 3 decent games by Ben and horrible defensive play?I'm not trying to argue if that is the case then I'd have to call you the amateur
It is IMPOSSIBLE for you to be more wrong.

BRAD has said that BH grades out as one of the best defensive players EVERY game. You know defense is not just 1 v 1, right? BRAD said that BH is so good on the backside that it allows others to get steals.

Your take on his defense is just absolutely incorrect.

As far a shooting goes. A shooter HAS TO shoot out of their slump. HAS TO. ZERO coaches sit shooters because they miss shots.

Casey Jacobsen is fine. I like the guy but he did tend to point out traveling, fouls, and other things on us more than Oregon. It’s all good but the original poster probably noticed those things. Maybe too hyperbolic in his statement but it wasn’t completely unfounded.

The announcers sucked last night very pro Oregon. What else is new
I am really not trying to be argumentative, but I thought they were pretty complimentary to the Illni. They started out discussing how good Oregon was, but also added very early in the broadcast that based on their preparation work they had trouble believing there are 21 teams better than them. Then they admitted they had no idea how deep the team was and that Oregon didn't either. Then later as they described the makeup of the team with the inside and outside threats (including a couple big men), they said regarding defending against them, "What are you supposed to do?". They also couldn't have been more complimentary of Underwood. Just sayin'.

I learned last night that the current odds for Illinois to win the national championship are +4200 (42 to 1).

For those of you who are able to legally bet and are into that sort of thing, might be worth a small wager before those odds start to go down.
I made that bet at 60-1 over the summer. Feels good today for sure

I played keyboards on this song.....it was one of our most requested songs back then...........had 2 Lesley speakers hooked up to my VOX double keyboard organ..............vibrato was so intense with those speakers.....memory lane holds so many heavy times , man.....so solid and righteous they were.....................they really really were....sorry for going off topic...............

I’m still trying to wrap my mind around how you use a space after every word except after punctuation.

The next postgame thread that doesn't whine about the announcers for being anything short of "Brian Barnhart but on TV" will be the first.

Hey guys, if we seamlessly transition from whining about "ACCSPN" to "SECSPN" maybe some introspection is required! Or - just enjoy the best run of Illini sports in most of our lives without obsessively searching for grievances, my god.
Cue the Stephen Bardo mud slingers….

My favorite broadcast moment of last night was Jacobsen saying "(KJ) has that salsa to his game" after the between the legs dish to Humrichous for that 3.

Illinois has had some great guards over the years, but I don't think any of them have ever had the precision of running the game that KJ has. Deron Williams is the best point guard I've ever watched play at Illinois (I'm a bit too young to really remember the Douglas/Harper years a lot), but his game wasn't as precise as KJ's is. KJ just plays like everyone else is sped up to 2.0 and he continues to play at a 1.0 speed level. I can't really explain it, but when I see it in a basketball game I'm mesmerized by it. For the soccer fans in this thread, KJ's game reminds me a lot of Kevin DeBruyne's game. Not that many "White Chocolate" flashy passes (but we did see a couple last night), but just makes the game look so simple and almost always makes the right decision and executes it flawlessly. He doesn't need that ultra-flashy pass.

I said it in the game thread, but my favorite pass of the night is still the bounce pass to White for the driving layup on the left side of the basket. That pass looked simple, but it was an absolute thing of beauty. KJ had the right angle for White's cut, put the perfect pace on the pass, and led White where he had one step with no dribble to the basket. I jumped off the couch for that pass, even though I know it wasn't a spinning pass or a between the legs drop pass.
Salsa is also a big part of how I like to fan.

I call that "sportsing", after we were making fun of a bunch of baseball parents staying at our hotel a couple of years ago who were living it up in the parking lot with Def Leppard blaring, plenty of drinking, and many 30 and 40 somethings dancing it up like they were at Kam's on a typical Friday night. :)

(Post game threads are so much more fun after a big win!!)

Tre White just does everything so well. Rebounds, passes, solid D, and scores at a high % (from both FGs and FTs). Quietly one of our most important players.
This team has a ton of talent, but I feel if White can be the mainstay and very consistent with these type of numbers, then Final Four is very doable. He may actually be the X factor, if you will.

Rewatched the game this morning. Insane display of shooting.

My biggest thought, the officiating didn't get any better with age. Some of the worst calls I've seen last night. Two of the fouls on KJ were flat out ridiculous. Could tell Morez was dejected, he's going to learn quick how the whistle goes for freshman on the road in the B1G.

I'm not sure how DJ Carstensen gets work in the B1G. I wouldn't let that guy officiate my daughters ymca games.

As a fan I wish I had some sort of "view behind the curtain" on what the heck happens over the Christmas/New Years break.

Looking at the metrics, this is the second year in a row that over 10 days, the governor is turned off from OK offensive play and the team is injected with offensive jet fuel:

- From 12/22/2023 - 1/2/2024 (From Pre Braggin' Rights to Post Northwestern @ Home) KP offensive efficiency jumps from 114.8 (29th ranked) to 116.3 (18th ranked). From here, offensive continued to climb up to 125.5 (2nd ranked) by the end of the B1G tournament.

- From 12/22/2024 - 1/2/2024 (From Pre Braggin' Rights to Post Oregon Away) KP offensive efficiency jumps from 117.2 (35th ranked) to 119.5 (15th ranked).

I don't know if it's something changed in practice, the full focus on basketball, something Brad says/does, guys buying into roles and gaining confidence, the magic of Christmas, voodoo magic, or a combination of the above, but god I hope it continues.
