Nobody is comparing him to Kendall Gill as a player. All they were saying is his 3 point shot "came out of nowhere" like Kendall Gill's did. Nothing to do with the types of players they are.

I do not believe Kendall Gill's 3 point shooting ability "came out of nowhere". He was a highly skilled 2/3, with the ability to shoot from distance. So I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this point.

I found some statistics. His 3pt% went from 30% sophomore year to 46% junior year.

In my best Chris Carter voice....C'mon Man...The difference between freshman Kendall (we are talking backboard jarring bricks like Tate has every once in a while) to where he was his junior and senior years was like night and day.

Kendall Gill Min per Game 2pt FG 3pt Fg Points per Game
1986-87 5.4 40-83 0-1 3.7
1987-88 28 128-272 21-69 10.4
1988-89 28 143-264 38-83 15.4
1989-90 ? 211-422 23-66 20.0
Kendall Gill was a roll player as a freshman. When he became a starter as a sophomore his offensive statistics improved with increased playing time. Now here is some thing that I found that was interesting concerning this 3 point discussion. In 1988 Kendall Gill led the team with 21 3 pointers. The team made a total of 39. In 1989 Kendall Gill led the team with 38 3 pointers. The 1989 team made 127. Nick Anderson made 2 in 1988 and 24 in 1989. Stephen Bardo made 3 in 1988 and 29 in in 1989. He was 29-59.

I believe the 3-pt shooting that "came out of no where", which you are refuting, is in reference to the jump from 30% to 46% between Sophomore and Junior years. Seems to be a reasonable point of view on his career.

Point being, if Tracy Abrams hits 46% from 3... look out! And good work young man (old collegiate).
