Passed Auburn and Kansas (big drop from #7 to #14). Baylor leapfrogs us to #11 - makes sense that people would rank them ahead of Kansas after the head-to-head win this week.

B$G only has the beloved and purdont in top 25..........zero-izzo's with 2 votes.....hmmmmm............down year compared to B12 ,
Big East , and SEC.........Oh well , we are upholding our end of it........

Watched the first game with purdont earlier this morning and sure hope we get off to a better start at home and WITH TSJ..........
Gonna watch purdont's last game they played and see if i can see anything different about them...........It's a thing with me , you know.....seeing how the beloved and other B$G teams look at different times in the season......I really really do.........JMHO..........

Too many teams in front that weā€™ll never be ranked ahead ofā€¦until there is no choice

Iā€™d prefer two-week streak of using this GIF to end the regular season, but Iā€™ll have the ā€œDownerā€ one ready, just in case. šŸ«¤

if we go 2-0 this week , we will be in the top 10.
Given how ranked teams have dropped like flies this year and how many good matchups there are this week, I would guess it goes something like this:

0-2 --> #16 or so (remember we have not gone 0-2 in a long time)
1-1, beat Iowa --> #13 or #14 (Iowa game is so late it might not provide a bounce back)
1-1, beat Purdue --> #10
2-0 --> #7 or #8

I feel like your average pollster would see #12 Illinois beat #2 Purdue and win a road game and skyrocket us past anyone in our "neighborhood" that went 1-1 or worse. Then again, the Iowa game being so late on Sunday night might actually affect how much it is considered, as referenced above.

If we go 2-0 we'll be in the top 7. It seems the pollsters are heavily rewarding teams for top 5 wins regardless of what others do ahead of them. It really doesn't matter now though. Our max is being a two seed if we win out and have a couple of blunders by teams like Marquette, UNC, etc. I think our floor is still a 5 seed. The goal should be to at least do enough to become a 3 seed.

Marquette might be in trouble if he is not back 100% for NCAA. If I am Shaka I rest him for rest of season and Big East tournament. NCAA seed means nothing. They want to make a good NCAA tourney run.

I agree with this. I said last week if we swept Wisconsin, Purdue, and Iowa that we could be a top 5 team come BTT time. If that PSU game was the last of the hiccups, we're hitting our stride at the perfect time!
