Illinois 21, Oregon 10 Postgame

wtf was up with Oregon running that stupid way off balance formation play ?

it reminded me of pop warner 7th grade
Only possible reason is that they thought it would confuse an already troubled defensive unit. It came off as pretty desperate for an offensive unit missing their most explosive players.

Luckily, the Illini defense remained composed and stuck with their assignments. The defense may have given up 426 yards (350 after the first drive), but it was easily the best collective performance in a long time.

Oregon stuck to 10 points against Illinois is something that never showed up on anyone's bingo card.

X ran down a guy twice in the same possession. He looked like his old self, and that stop WITH ONLY 3 points, made a HUGE difference in the game. It gave the D confidence and was a turning point, imo.

I'll be honest, I did let the all talk of how athletic Oregon is affect my expectations for this game. And I didn't think we'd win. I was hopeful, but...you know the rest.
When Laughery broke that run outside I at first thought, "he's got a long way to go, they'll catch him". It's funny how one play can change your outlook on a game.
But it wasn't just that play. It was the changes on defense, finally getting into the backfield against the "mighty ducks" OL and the way our guys were flying around creating havoc. Much improvement in tackling too! It was our OL opening holes for our RBs. The way Lunney used both QBs. So much improvement over the bye week.
since I had to watch the game on replay I had to listen to the TV announcers for the first time in a long time......they were very complementary of the improvement in our defense since Hauck resigned and very high on Lunney as one of the best OC's in not just the B$G but the whole country.......nice to hear but Brian B. , Corey Davis and Kevin Mitchell as the very best way to enjoy an Illini FB game.......

1. Illinois defense is improving.
2. Illinois had a fantastic run game.
3. Oregon's offense stinks.
4. Too much green in the stands today. Some ticket holders must have had a big payday scalping tickets.
5. Cold weather bowl game is still on the table.
I agree with this:

4. Too much green in the stands today. Some ticket holders must have had a big payday scalping tickets.

It is a problem with our fanbase.

Our tackling still needs work! How many times did they have a chunk play after initial contact? Defense looked very vulnerable whenever we lined up. We were saved by last gasp tackles. Worst defense by far under Bielema...

We won because of three big plays on offense. With a freshman QB!

And Raiola is NOT a winning QB.

And I just love our coach! He's great at making chicken salad out of chicken...feathers.

Bring on Maryland!

You are making some erroneous assumptions. I doubt that many (if any) Illini season ticket holders "had a big payday scalping tickets". I, for one, couldn't attend the game; I listed them on SeatGeek for basically face value; and they didn't sell (although, oddly, my parking pass sold). Plenty of tickets were listed for less than face value. It's not like hordes of Ilini fans wanted to attend the game but they were prevented from doing so because Illini season ticket holders were selling them for inflated amounts to Oregon fans. Any Illini fan who wanted to attend would have been able to do so at a reasonable price.

We need a running count of how many times opposing teams fire a coach shortly after we beat them. I feel like it happens every year.
It kind of shows you the outside perception of what our program is. I know we technically didnt fire our DC, but same thing with our change this year after Purdue. You can ignore problems for a bit until certain losses remove any questions of your issues.

I second this. Had to drop my extra tickets to $13 per to get someone to buy them; and they were Oregon fans
