Yes, KU was ranked at the time. But does that ranking really count for much now?
I get what you’re saying with a 5-7 season, but KU finished strong beating ranked Iowa State, Colorado, and BYU in November….not a team anyone wanted to see by EOY.

There was magic around that KU win. We knew we had a chance at bowl eligibility after that win with the way the schedule fell…think about that mindset of hoping to win 6 and tonight we celebrate #10!!

Dan Lanning puts 12 men on field intentionally: *wow he’s so smart. This guy knows the rules. So cool, Dan Lanning is an amazing coach!”

Bret Bielema takes his time and subs according to the rules, and Beamer never figures out to just stop making late subs: *Illinois really has to stop doing this. It needs to be a defensive delay of game. This is an abuse of the rules. SC should have had another timeout but Bielema got away with gaming the system.*

I dunno who made the national media hate Illinois so much but goodness nobody wants to give us any credit for a damn thing.

It is per the rules

I always dislike when coaches try to take advantage of rules designed for player safety. When u act like u have given up on the play ie touchback the play should be over. College should make it like the pros and you have to take a knee. It will be interesting to see if college adopts the NFL kick off
Exactly right. No reason to get kids hurt this way

ESPN is getting to "Heel Michael Cole" levels of annoying, glad I muted the game!

Josh McCray's 6o yard run at the end of the game was so sweet.

Once he cleared the line, he just ran. No looking back. As soon as he sensed the potential tackler closing in, he clamped down on the ball.

Just one of his many great plays.

Josh deserves the MVP honor for this game.

3 beers to get through the 18 pages of post game, so much fun reading all of the good vibes.
I'm not sure I've ever been happier as an Illini fan.
Michigan, 10 wins, beat an SEC team in a premier bowl, and it was our guy (BB) that clowned their guy (SB), what a night.
Enjoy it to fullest Illini nation.

So there’s an unwritten rule that teams follow for player safety. You choose to violate that unwritten player safety rule to run a trick play. You lose your **** when the other coach calls you out on it. And then you call the other coach bush league for calling you out?

So glad we beat that clown.
All this on top of the fact that he was repeatedly annoyed that Illinois took advantage of a WRITTEN substitution rule. If you’re gonna take advantage of unwritten rules you might develop a better strategy against the one’s actually in the books.

I don't know how to post the clip, but it was the kickoff with 2:23 left in the 3rd after we scored to go up 14-10. IMO this was very low class and I understand why the Illini staff was upset. The receiver gave the signal then took 2 or 3 lazy steps as if they had no intention of returning the kick then heaved it across the end zone. Bush league BS.
FYI, if he threw that ball forward, it would have been an illegal forward pass in the endzone and a safety on SC. I'd like to see that play myself.
