I have no respect for those who can't see the gaping holes in their own understanding of a situation.

So, it is the writer's understanding that Illinois was spontaneously subbing in and out defensive players late in the play clock when South Carolina was on offense and the refs were allowing that to happen due purely to incompetence? Really? Zero awareness of what was happening with his own team's substitutions throughout the game and the relationship between the two? Try again, man. If your understanding of a situation doesn't make any sense, take another look and figure out what you missed the first time.
😂 😂 😂 I know; it’s really something. There’s no attempt to even feign objectivity.

I was lucky enough to attend the game (and cannot comment enough on how awesome of an experience everything about it was), but I just watched a replay of the game first thing this morning. 2 things really stood out to me that I wasn’t able to see/hear at the game.
1.) holy hell Beamer was a clown the entire game, wow it was ridiculous from the opening kick off. I had seen plenty of highlights of “the incident” and saw the post game presser and had already made my mind up that he was a clown, but it was so much worse watching the broadcast.
2.) I thought the announcers were plenty complimentary towards the Illini overall. A lot of comments make it sound like they hated us. Yes they were a little overboard and reactionary during the incident and calling it taunting too many times (and the sideline guy was pretty annoying). Also the rules guy really hates the subbing strategy but even he said the cocks could stop it by simply stopping their subbing. Outside of those two things I didn’t take much issue with the broadcast. But maybe that’s because I watched it knowing the outcome already.

Either way, what a game, what a day, what a season. Go Illini!

Been almost a week... still gives me chills

There are so many amazing things about this but...

1. I haven't watched the broadcast of the game at all but I suspect I will find myself in the background on that run and on many other plays lol. (section 127 above the tunnel, Dee Brown jersey and orange Illini flag)
2. I went to the Rose Bowl. It made me sad but also hopeful. And then those hopes were dashed.
3. It does not feel that way this time.
4. We hung around after the game and chatted with some of the families of the players. These folks are ALL IN, man. These kids love the UI and they love coach and they love this program and MAN do I still feel effing awesome about where we're headed.

Y'all, I am so proud of our players. They left it on the field, they didn't take any smack, and at the end of the game I hollered ILLINOIS PUT SOME RESPECT ON OUR NAME and I got some amens from the rest of the section and you're damn right.

You're damn right.

I wish they would have put the clips of Beamer shouting "F you, f you!" At Bielema after their touchdown in there towards the end.

Those geniuses who predicted a blowout should have their own show, oops one does.

Replay "B1G Football in 60: Cheez-It Citrus Bowl: Illinois vs. South Carolina - 12/31/24"
on BTN
January 6th, 8pm ET
Going along with that...is there a downloadable on demand version of the game somewhere? Looking on Hulu now. Would prefer a legit source from one of my many streaming apps LOL.

Watched game again last night. ESPN announcers were 100% wrong on the taunting comments.

-----
Brett did not say anything to Beamer or SC bench.
-----
He did smile after Beamer had to call timeout on the substitute duel but that was across the field and ESPN did not discuss how Beamer had been out coached.

I have been checking almost every day since the game and was not able to find anything until just now. I was mostly looking on YouTube, but I just did a Google search and came up with this (below). I don’t know if it is legal, but it is not on YouTube (which seems to pull these games off very quickly and shut down Draftmatic). I don’t know if it is all there because I just copied it in case it disappears and also so I can fast-forward through the commercials, etc. It is a long video, and I did some spot-checking, and it seems to be all there.

Edit: I just checked to make sure my link was working, and unfortunately, it looks as if it has been taken down. When I clicked on the link, I was taken to a page that said, "Server is under scheduled service”. So, either this is true and maybe check again later, or, more likely, it has indeed been taken down. Sorry.

Still reading comments but haven’t seen…
Meed with great awareness has been discussed, but highly on both special teams and defense maybe he was able to recognize it and split second faster.

Daniel Brown with the big pressure/qb hit on Sellers for the 4th down incompletion to Simon. I think it gets completed if Brown doesn’t get a hit on Sellers

Regarding your last point, the receiver had beaten Kreutz and was pretty wide open with a lot of space left in an uncluttered part of the end zone. It was a terrible pass. It was a nice rush effort by Brown, but it seemed to me that Sellers basically panicked. (This was after listening all game to the announcers gush that Sellers should be one of the top Heisman candidates next season.)
