When I consider:
--This team was 2-3 after losing to Purdue
--The defense was a mess and couldn't even get the right number of players on the field
--Then they lose their starting QB... and turn to a freshman
--The schedule looked ominous with Oregon, Nebraska, at UCLA, Iowa and at a shockingly good NW team...5-7 was not only possible, but maybe likely considering they looked to be underdogs in all of their final 5 games
All I can say is...bring on Notre Dame!

If you were picking 5-7 after Purdue you were in the optimistic camp.

What a wonderful way to spend a Friday evening as the Illini roll over the huskers by the score of 24-13 for Illini's 4th straight win .....

congrats to Collin Dixon for breaking the single season receiving TD's record with 2 tonight bringing his total this year to 12 , with at least 3 games remainin not counting a Bowl game.......HELL'S YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...........

the fake punt changing the momentum and allowed the Illini to score a TD a few plays later .......defense bent but didn't break holding nebby to only 13 points.......Matt Bailey with 11 tackles , Kruetz with 10 led the surge in a lot better display of tackling with 3-4 Illini around the point of tackling almost the whole game .....

Only one negative for me, the Renfro injury.

Really nervous about this OLine moving forward. Completely decimated with injuries.

Houser and our two recievers are gonna carry the offense as far as they can.

Defense deserves their flowers.

also the Barnett injury ...........

Super proud of this team and coaching staff. This was a great game. Coaching was impressive. The offensive made cluutch plays. Our special teams play was amazing. AND we actually have a defense!! One busted play or this may have been a 24-7 game. Houser started slow but tightened things up well as the game progressed. Dixon and Clement were clutch and Laughery played like a stud. Loved beating their crybaby coach. Plus...free nuggets!

Dad gets the 2-0 week! Crowd was actually a lot more into it and we ended up standing most of the game. Great effort and Nebraska fans can't be mad for blowing a 4th quarter lead because they got straight outplayed in the 2nd half

I’ve been harping on special teams all season, but credit where credit is due. They played a large role in why we won today and I couldn’t be happier for them for the performance. Hurd and his group called a great game today.

As I said to some friends of mine Bret can be a bit of a prick at times but damnit he’s our prick and I freaking love the guy. He’s everything this program lacked for so long. We had no identity other than that we usually sucked.

He has established a culture where even if we don’t match on talent when u play Illinois u better be ready to go for 60 minutes. We do the little things well and don’t make the fatal mistakes. If u gonna beat us u have to beat us. We aren’t gonna just lay down and give it away.
