Thinking about past good Illini wins, it's hard to think of a "balanced" close game that the Illini have won in the past decade plus over a good team. There have been low-scoring games (Iowa in 2022) and weird, ugly wins (9 OT win over Penn State), but this game, while it featured miscues and penalties by both teams, was actually a fairly watchable game with both teams making great plays. I don't know how that late hit on Coleman wasn't called in OT, but we'll take it!
Man alive, it feels so good to win. I'm really trying to soak this W up and not just move on to the next one.

We were very worried coming in to the game about us not being able to run and getting gashed by Nebraska.

Terrific effort from both the players and coaches. Lunney called one of the best games in his Illini career. He put on a masterclass tonight.

I just love how Brando was setting up the narrative that this is the game that re-establishes Nebraska as "a top 10 football brand" and a return to a culture of winning ... and then the Illini spoil it.
Absolutely a late hit. But also absolutely a facemask on our 4th down before halftime.
We would have run out the clock and gone in to the half tied at worst. No need for overtime in that case
