Bret said it best in a recent interview. I didn’t have the money for the defensive line. He said it loud and clear for all to hear on purpose. Josh and Bret are doing great with the resources they’ve worked hard for. They need more to get where we all want them to be. I like the comment about spending the money on players instead of the scoreboard so hopefully that’s next. Is there a Mark Cuban donor out there….we all know there is but is he willing? Maybe others? I would if I had it. LOL

Not at ALL impressed with the defense. We couldn't get them off the field. The scheme looked weak against the run and the line backers couldn't seem to tackle anybody. This was an extremely weak opponent and we couldn't contain them.
Hopefully, this was a learning experience and next week will be better. At least we won, unlike Rutgers

Feels great to be dancing again..............it really really does...............

Houser looked great , passing AND running the ball...........Valentine with 88 yds rushing......I can't remember the offense getting any penalties so the cohesion was good......

the defense needs work.......the radio announcers just said 200 of the yds that UAB got were after missed tackles......might be an embellishment but there were many for sure............

Offensive skill position players were very encouraging. Offensive line seemed pretty solid. D was incredibly concerning in the first half but looked better in the 2nd. Hope some of that was staying in base stuff to keep things off tape but regardless tackling and 3rd down conversations were not enjoyable to watch. 7-5 maybe 8-4 seem like proper expectation. Man would be great to have Houser for a 2nd year really liked how he looked.

Good to win first game but defense was very shaky. Hopefully we'll get things straightened out as the season goes along. If not Ohio State will hang 100 on us. I am stoked that Houser didn't get/take a single sack tonight. He has very good pocket awareness. As good as Luke was his pocket awareness lacked.

I want to appreciate what we have in Barry Lunney Jr. This offense just makes stuff happen consistently.

The video board was pretty cool but for all the upgrades it felt like the same old gameday. The pregame video and 4th quarter hype were definitely upgrades but jury is very much out on the experience.

The 3-5-3 will be an interesting experiment. Seems like it lends itself to creating opportunity for big plays by the defense…and by the offense. Of course, if you don’t tackle any defense will look vulnerable. Would probably like it better if we had Aaron Donald at the NT spot (but he’d be at LSU if he came back).

Pair this offense with a defense that has two more difference makers in the front seven, and we’d be real contenders for a playoff spot. Shame…
