Our "comfortable" wins feel like we rode a roller coaster with a malfunctioning seat harness....

It wasn't a work of art to be sure, but every win is beautiful.

Running game just so-so. Defense very sketchy.

5-1. One win away from bowl eligibility with 6 to play. We would have killed for this not that long ago. I-L-L

I'm pinching myself now to make sure i'm not dreaming.

Relatively comfortable road win. Defense made a number of mistakes (angles, wrapping up runner, etc.). Those mistakes will need to be minimized if we want a chance next week, but one game at a time.

Celebrate with the Cannon today and prepare to win back the Illibuck.

Team is 5-1, which we all considered a very good start to the season. We need Memorial Stadium rocking next Saturday!

Again, great to win big ten games! I will never take that for granted.

HOWEVER,
Bret, I love you man. You are the best thing to happen to IL football since Mike White, with way more upside. But you have to take a long, hard look at your staff OBJECTIVELY. I understand loyalty. I understand that Bart and Aaron are truly good men. But this program is on the cusp of - dare I say as a LONG time Illini fan - greatness!

We have to be better than average at every staff position and we just clearly are not in line recruiting/development and defensive scheming/adjusting. IMO, Lunney is a competent, consistent O line from being an elite offensive coordinator. Yes, he has some head scratching calls now and then. But with a really good line those calls are likely successful.

Just my opinion. I will love the Illini regardless. Hell, I've stuck around this long. That won't change.

In all my years watching football, I can't recall watching a quarterback as consistently accurate as Luke Altmeyer this year.
Luke is an absolutely fantastic quarterback. His accuracy is unbelievable for a college qb. He's the type of guy Bill Belichek would draft in the late rounds and would turn into an All-Pro. If he gets on a team with a good OL in the NFL he could have an extremely good career. Amazing accuracy, especially on slants. He was sharp as hell today. Picture perfect NFL throws

Fire Henry!
We are still down our X factor in X Scott and he is a huge part of our D. But we are forcing turnovers. ND gave up 30 to Purdue and Purdue is getting better. Our coaching isn't the issue. We need to develop and recruit more players. We lost a lot of DBs to the NFL and we need to keep adding more to replace em.
