Illinois #5 in 2/2 AP Poll

Generally you get 2 wins in a week against Top 25 teams you get a significant bump. Beat two Top 5s, both on the road? Yeah, jumping teams is possible. The overall record will be a sticking point to some, but we were only 10 votes behind Iowa State and 37 votes behind Gonzaga last poll. I certainly see a case for jumping them despite both of those teams not losing and Iowa State looking particularly good while doing it. Also Nebraska is going to take a hit with their losses even though they really shouldn't.

I think we jump everyone except Zona, Michigan, Duke,and UCONN. Put me down for us being ranked #5.

By the way, those 4 1 seeds in Zona, Michigan, Duke, and UCONN are like a who's who of teams who are owed some payback from us in the tourney.

Zona '01 Elite 8 was infuriating, but we did give them payback in '05 Elite 8. Rubber match?

Michigan is owed for '89 Final Four. They're owed hard for that. Real hard. I want to end their season.

UCONN is owed for the '24 Elite 8. Big Z has been playing defensively like Clingan all year. I have no better team for him to make that impression his own. 40-0 Illini run or bust

Duke is owed for the '04 Sweet 16. Time for Keaton Wagler to show the Crazies what JJ Reddick would look like if he wasn't a whiny little b*tch and a more efficient shooter.

Really, the only teams missing from this list are UNC and Kentucky.

I’m guessing 7th. I doubt the voters move ILL ahead of Iowa State and Gonzaga.

This is the frustrating part about Gonzaga. We beat two top 5s on the road in 8 days and they beat St. Aloysius of Fresno and stay where they are. They have boosted their noncon considerably, but scheduling on those is always more coach influenced and comfortable than meat grinder conference scheduling.

we should be 5, and I think there's a reasonable chance we will be. NE loses twice and Houston lost as well so we should automatically be in front of them. Then its a question of if we jump zaga and IA state.

Last week Zaga had close home wins against St. Marys and only by 2 points over 13-9 San Francisco.

Last week IA state beat up on two cupcakes from middle to bottom of the little 12.

We were within a small amount of points of both of them in both polls the week prior. Our road win over #5 without (arguably) our 2nd best player should be enough to get us to 5.
