Thanks - and what was the BU-Hawkins interaction you saw?

I watched the game on Tivo delay and did not notice anything. (Also haven't stayed very close to the comments on this board in the event it's already been covered.)
Had to be his horrible 90 seconds when he tried to go 1 on 4 and lost the ball around half court then when he tried to get offensive rebound got a foul trying to knock/slap ball away from player. He definitely looked at the bench/had words (probably something like keep me in coach - I think I will block a last second shot for the win but I can’t do it from the bench 😂😂)

This game was tough to watch from start to finish, but I will take that type of win 100% of the time if it means surviving to play another day.

I hope this second half opens up Plummer's confidence on the offensive end. He seemed to disappear in the IU game, passing on open looks at the end of game. We will need his sharpshooter touch on Sunday.

The Frazier steal and behind the back dribble to spark the transition Plummer three in a nutshell shows the value Frazier provides, even if he wasn't scoring.

On to Sunday!
IMO Plummer doesn’t lack confidence. Period. The scouting report is don’t give Plummer an inch. At the end of the game he/everyone might pass up shots they would otherwise shoot earlier in the game

Ummm. Trent was bad tonight. Coach said it on tv in post game short interview. We all saw him struggle offensively. But his defense was strong as usual.

Bring on Sunday and Houston

So I guess you never second guess any of the staff's decisions? My point is still the same, why would you come to play at Illinois if you don't even get a chance to see the floor in important games. I suppose you are going to tell me that every player on the opposing team tonight is better prepared than Melendez and Goode? I'm not buying that, and if they are we must be lacking in recruiting if we can't out recruit them. Also, according to half of the people on this board they weren't sure and some of them still aren't sure that we should play Curbelo and Hawkins. Maybe we should just play the seniors (like all the other teams in this tournament do/s) and they will show us the way.
In the post game IIRC, BU was asked about this and he said it was bc were D-ing the Mocs up like a mutha and he didn't want to change things up on that end.

I gotta say, the armchair QBing of experienced CBB coaches' in-game decisions is one of the stupider things humans do on the web.

He sure did change it. 6 turnovers and 1-7 shooting
You realize that Chattanooga outscored illinois big to start each half and during that time curbelo was sitting on the bench. As soon as he came in illinois began coming back. Yes he made some turnovers and missed some shots (the rest of the team didn’t shoot straight either) but the team played better when he was on the court

I love Curbelo. He brought energy and broke down the defense when our offense was stagnant. It's really interesting to see the disparity between the raw box score +/- which has him +18 and the advanced stat, BPM, from Torvik that says he was -9.7 and the worst player on the floor. Maybe advanced stats don't know what to do with Curbelo.
I wouldn't use BPM in this case because it makes it seem like we dominated. NET appears to be more representative, though it still kills Curbelo, so... 🤷‍♂️

it's difficult for me to wrap my head around as well. Kudos to the "visual learner" chick that posted the graphic. Me like purdy pictures. Drives the point home. He'll give us all strokes but you gots to keep the Belo in. If he ever figures out how to cut the turnovers to nothing he's going to GRADE OUT.
It's a nitpick, but 🤷🏼‍♀️

I cannot tell you the number of times I find myself going, "Andre, no!" only to sit back and chug half my beer in relief when he pulls off a beautiful play. (I can say the same about Hawkins too.)

Everyone looked off last night, even the Mocs after their initial burst. I don't know if it was the ball or the rims or the pressure of being in the NCAAT, but we weren't loose. Hopefully we figure that part out by Sunday's tipoff.

You're right it can. It's why this chart

might led one to believe we shouldn't play Curbelo. But they'd need to understand it's over the course of the season and takes into account the games he was recovering from a serious head injury.

When you look at more recent data...

...you get a better picture of Curbelo's value. He forces teams to close in on him and facilitates. A lot of times, he should likely be credited with a hockey assist (if we kept that stat for basketball).

Tonight was bad because our shooters went cold and he felt pressure to create his own shot. That's never been his strong suit; he's not Iso Ayo. That being said, he's still a damn good player and we're a better team with him than without him.
Where do you get your wonderful information. Also adding possession to the plus minus was fantastic.

The wife and I are having a lovely time in London, England. We found a pub that stayed open until 1 am last night.
My far, far better half supports my passion for the beloved during game time, while in return, I happily go to all the gardens, museums, and the like, by day.
Following the boys last night from “The Rose” in London, via Twitter feeds and live game play by play on-line, we had one hell of a night. Though I’m not sure the locals at the pub fully yet understand why the hell the American kept yelling “I L L” and
“I N I” in the pub at closing time, they did understand what it means for a crazy American to buy last call for the bar.
$230 pounds later I’m hoping like heck to have a repeat performance tomorrow.
I L L….
POTD!!! Taking the ILL game on the road is priceless!!

Trust is earned, not given. It's clear our freshmen haven't earned enough trust to regularly play in high leverage situations. I don't know the reasons, but I assume the staff have access to much more information about our players and their abilities and performance, so it would be silly to think I am better positioned to evaluate them.
There you go injecting some rational thought into the Loyalty hive mind.

Smaller schools like the MOCS are great at having a cockamamie strategy and pulling off an upset. They said it in the postgame- they had 15 fouls to use on Kofi, and they were going to use every one. It made things very hard and frustrating, especially when the whistles went silent inside of ten feet in the second half for a stretch. That said, it was a pee in the wind strategy that would've easily backfired had the Illini attacked the boards on the defensive end. Holy moly that was a lot of second chance opportunities. In no world did I expect that team to get that many chances.

KAT UNLEASHED!

The facts and research burn the skin.
The moniker "visual learner chick" almost made me spit out my coffee when I aught up on the thread this a.m. Mad props to to @IlliniKat91 for layin' down the graphics hammer! Combined with slowly moving my lips as I read the minimal amount of text, even I was able to comprehend the Belo sitch in team context. ;)
