you ARE watching it from a different angle Ga65....it happens to be the right one...there have been a few posters who have been on Te'Jon from the get-go... they don't have a clue... Underwood does though.

You got a point guard that has only made one 3 in 10 games and has only taken a total of 8 three pointers and you are satisified with that. Last year I can remember people were complaining about how we were playing 4 against 5 because Tate could not shoot. What is terriable we have a point guard to this point is not able to shoot anything but a layup. I hope that changes but to this point I have not see Te'jon this year or last year have any confidence in shooting or being able to shoot anything but a layup.

This offense is built on cuts to the basket - and the PG, more than anyone, is likely 'thinking' about this new offense more than anyone else out there so I am not surprised we don't have a huge outside production from any of them at this point. We need TJL's court vision, passing and D. If teams zone us -we have to take advantage of AJ, MA and MF for outside shooting. I'd rather our PG penetrate and kick to one of those guys if he's stopped. He also has a very nice tear drop. I don't have any issue with the PG not being a knock down 3 pt shooter (thats the Shooting Guard) - but we do need better penetration and kick or lob against zones.

The difference in what was asked of Tate last year and what is being asked of this year's PGs is night and day.

Not sure how this has turned into a Tejon Lucas thread...

The guards will be fine, they all go through a learning curve right now but their overall skills are fine. None of them IMO is a star with NBA potential, but they will all be solid college players. And please, let's leave Tate alone, no reason to constantly bring Tate up just to bring him down.

I think both Tejon and Trent are solid, yet very raw yet. Neither has differentiated himself, much will depend on the future. Neither is really a go-to player at the end of the game. Alstork really wants the ball, a role that can fit him, yet he is not a closer yet (not sure if this is because of new team or just his skillset). Truth is, at the end of the game, we do not have closers and go-to guys. Personally, at this point, I would go with Kipper or Alstork to create, with Leron as an option inside and AJ as the kick-out option for the open jumper. Hopefully, in the future, that could be a role for Mark Smith due to his strength, but he is not there at this point.

teams have brought the zone out when Lucas first comes out, there's a reason for that... Lucas hit .375 from 3 last year, he can do it

Go back and watch some of those shots. Swear he must have hit 3 or 4 that banked in. Hes obviously more capable than Tate was, but he could've easily ended the year with a sub .300 3pt%

IMO Finke is playing hard and doing his best. I don't know what else we can demand from him. He will continue to improve this season, but the greatest growth potential for this team is elsewhere.

I think he's asked to be a star when he's really just a good complimentary player.

I also really like our depth this year. We are playing 9-10 deep with no real noticeable drop off when the bench comes in. The real problem though is we don't have a "the guy" type of player. Hopefully someone develops into that go-to guy role for us.

"The guy" to go to usually turns out to be who is the hottest shooter and is doing the overall best in any particular game, so in the Illini's case, that's variable.
