One thing that stood out to me was how ineffective Giorgi was against Teske.
Thank goodness for Kofi!
At the same time, Teske seems to be a soft player. No cutting edge to him unless he hits his threes.

Thought both Kofi and Giorgi had bad games but Teske was 4/14, Wagner 4/11, and Livers 2/6. Kofi and Giorgi 4/16. Very bad offense but their defense still pretty good. Kofi’s great game against PU followed by maybe worst game.

Kofi's gonna be just fine! He's a freshman!! Playing organized BB for 4-5 years? Gmab! If he was beating the crap out of everybody and fouling we'd be complaining about that! It's just remarkable that he's playing in such control for a freshman. Probably due to being older, but still impressive!

He ain't soft boys, and he's got a mean streak. Still working on his footwork and hands. If he stays, and I think he will FWIW, B1G POY next year. Mark it down.

If TF doesn’t get into foul trouble I think this game goes way differently and wouldn’t have had it come down to a last possession. Offense was humming along pretty well for a period in the first half and after the fouls piled up neither he nor the offense seemed to be in much of a rhythm.
That said I have sorely missed exciting basketball from the Illini

Just so you youngsters might appreciate this more, it will likely not happen more than a couple times in your life that the Illini will sweep two games from Michigan and Purdue. Throw in one at Wisconsin and this season is very, very, special. This team is becoming what I hoped they would and thought they could. Kofi was missing tonight, but the staff will work on getting his head back on straight and Griffin also and get all players contributing to a memorable comeback season for a special group. Congrats to the B1G sould first place Fighting Illini. Keep on keepin' on.

It's the 2nd time it's happened in 27 years in the B1G, both by Illinois, the other in the great '05 season. 27 years ago it was IU's Elite 8 team of '93.

KenPOm ranking is a just a computer analysis of per possession basketball statistics,of which I don't think your W-L record even counts, or if it does it is a minor part. That is why there is a committee to make the actual selections. UW some years had an unreasonably high rankings on KenPom. The committee will provide an eye test, and we look great right now. All statistical ratings have flaws. Some are better than others. RPI is terrible, we were 41st as of yesterday, but that is no longer a tool used as a prime ranking for the NCAA. Every victory keeps us "movin on up" as posted by somebody.

Great game, esp Ayo and Dre, was thinking at a couple of points that we might loose because Alan was sitting and we were tired. Great effort for us, the defense is amazing. Winning despite getting out rebounded, more turnovers, more fouls...

Let's bury the gophers! GO ILLINI!!!

ILL!
Bury the Gophers and we pass 2006 Illini who were last in 1st place on 1/31/06.

How far Illinois goes in the tourney is 100% dependent on their three point shooting. If they can shoot 35% or more they can go do the sweet 16 because of their defense and their inside/outside game on offense with Kofi. If they can't shoot at least decent from 3 the defenses will sag. In the tourney as Trent goes from 3...we will go as a team. Just watch.
If we shoot 35% from 3 we'll go passed the Sweet 16.
