Read most of the responses (missed a few pages here and there) so if this has already been posted, sorry.
We have always complained that we never win the match up as the underdog and have lamented our coaching as the main reason. I never bought into those naysayers and those with experience know, the “best team” doesn’t always win (ask the 89 team and the unlv team that lost). The point is, Brad has put together teams that have progressively gotten better and more well rounded and has learned from the issues that left us short in the tourney in the past. This current roster has everything staff wanted and their trust in the system is paying off. Big shout out to the entire staff and players for putting together a memorable and enjoyable season.
Now go out there and bring home a natty and make it a one of a kind season. Pretty please?

There were of course so many key plays in the win over Houston, but I wanted to give credit to Tomi for hitting what I thought was one of the biggest shots of the night. Houston had just hit back-to-back 3's to cut what had been an 18-point lead down to 9, 50-41, and the Cougars had intensified their defensive pressure. Kylan missed a short shot, but Keaton snagged the rebound and found Tomi open at the arc. Despite having missed his first two 3-point attempts and having been in a late-season shooting slump, Tomi did not flinch. Swish! I had started to feel like it might be slipping away, but that shot sealed it for me. The moment was not too big. You pass up a wide-open shot against a defense like Houston's and there is no guarantee you're going to get as good a shot later in the possession.

Anyone else unimpressed by Kingston Flemings last night?

I am not trying to judge a kid by one game. I hadn't watched him all year. But I just didn't see much from him that stood out to me at all. He likely just had a bad game. There's a reason he's in the top-10 of every NBA mock draft you'll ever find. Some of it might be the way Kelvin uses him, too. I'm not a fan of their offensive strategy, though I certainly respect his program.

There's no way he's 6'4", BTW.

Can any of the old timers tell us about this game in 1986 where we didn't shoot a single free throw?
I remember watching the game because Terry Coner hit a heart breaking buzzer beater but I don’t remember us not attempting a FT. I tried to find that game online somewhere but can’t find the full game.

Just watched the replay and suffered through SVG's raving's about tuggler.......lmao , are they related ??.......tuggler played dirty the whole game and reminds me of purdont's TKR big time.........Hummel had an ok night but no one compares to Brian Barnhart and Deon Thomas when listening to an Illini basketball game..............

the definite key to the game was odd to me as Boswell got his 3rd foul with 17:24 left in the game........the Illini then went on that excellent 17-0 run over the next 6 minutes........Mirko-Man was outstanding during this run ..............he really really was..............

as another poster posted earlier another definite time in the game was Tomi's 3 pointer after uh cut the lead down to 9 pts....

real suffering was watching mashburn and satan pre game.......mashburn is terrible.....he really really is.....so is that dude who was on cbs the day before the game.....I think his name is Chris Walker.....he guaranteed a uh win and said the Illini weren't tough enough to beat uh in basically a home game 2 miles from their campus........lol , dude don't know jack s**t....he really really don't................
