Just took a closer look at the rebounding stats. I can't find fault with pulling down more boards than a very athletic Mi. team. They did get 6 more offensive than the Illini, but they missed 13 more shots and way too many of their shots took odd angles or long bounces that allowed them to get another possession on the basis of fortune. There were maybe a couple that could or should have been corralled, but the same on the other end. What won the game was timely shooting when shooters were tired...by the Illini....plus a great night at the charity stripe with our guys, and Kofi, shooting 87% and 71% respectively. Still some sloppy play that kept the Illini from winning the turn battle, but only by one. Overall, they were undermanned and beaten by a more experienced team who played OK, and maybe BU said a word or two, like please and thank you, that left an indelible impression about hustle and energy. I am certain he was polite about it. At least we did not waste an excellent all-around game on Mi. which makes an excellent game against Purdue go up in probability.
