Illinois 68, Northwestern 61 POSTGAME

NU is this state's best hope for getting a tournament team. Also, they're a good group of guys. Some people's hatred for NU is a little dumbfounding to say the least. People treat NU like they are Indiana or Kansas or UNC.

Wrong. We treat. them like the doormat that they have historically been. Nothing good comes from NU becoming nationally relevant. It's one more team we have to leapfrog in the standings, and one more school we have to compete with for recruits. If they never win another game ever I will be happy.

Do you root for your other favorite sports team's rivals?

Northwestern being relevant in any meaningful way hurts the Illini. No fan of ours should root for them.

I see a team playing for their coach, and i really respect that. Different from Bruce's last year.

We had a 5 minute stretch in the first half that just had me scratching my head with how well we played. We drove the lane, used the pick and roll, and passed to the open man... Then Black and Hill took back to back bad/selfish shots without working the ball around and it totally changed the momentum. Overall solid win, just kinda feels like too little too late in terms of the season. It does feel good to beat Northwestern though.

Lucas had a great game, Mav played well, and Hill and Finke came up big when it counted.

What about ISU? Even if they don't win the Missouri Valley tournament they may very well get an at-large.

Northwestern has the stronger resume. ISU also has a major injury right now, so that didn't help but getting beat by 40 at Wichita has a way of putting things in perspective. They are on the bubble watch on ESPN, they probably will need to make the Valley final to be considered for an at-large.

Good balance effort. 5 guys with 9 or more with nobody over 14. Nice to see. Fun to be an Illini fan at least for a night.

An unexpected Illini victory, and a documentary about the Flyin' Illini immediately after? This is an awesome night

Things were never the same after he blasted his own players after losing to Purdue

Incorrect. Northwestern is a good story and quite frankly, they are not a true rival of Illinois and have never been. Our true rival is Indiana. Northwestern is the little brother and sometimes, you need to let the little brother have his day. Your apparent hatred for the basketball team is pretty petty.

Solid win, great to see our guys size up the opponent. Kipper has very good mobility and motor. Deveoping 3 pointer will make him a true SG. Staff finally realizing that Hill and Kipper belong on the court together.

JCL best defensive effort, probably losing time helped. Overall we allowed less space for shots.

Groce finally gets a clue and lets Tejon play without ripping him out every 2 mins to put Tate in. And we finally win a game.

ISU problem is they played a weak schedule and have no quality wins. They might make it as an at-large but it will be close.

Lunardi has them as one of the last 4 in before their win tonight. They probably have to win out their last 5 games, which has a decent chance of happening.

They don't play Wichita St. again, so they have no chances of getting quality wins. They have to win out, get to the MVC tourney final, and that may be enough to get them in. If they get their kid, McIntosh back, they will be a formidable tournament team b/c they were rolling before he got the meniscus tear.

They beat Wichita State. They also beat Ft Wayne, the team that beat Indiana!(not a big win, always great to mention Indiana losing)
