I wish I could like this more than once as I have the exact same question. Hope it comes up in the presser, but I doubt it.
DGL’s defense looked solid while he was in there. 5-10 minutes per half to get a feel little by little would be nice. The management of Ty Rodgers has become a trend I don’t like. Seems like we all see it. Same with going zone which we saw a flash or two today. Someone is talking to Coach!!!

Illini are gonna need Shannon to get it together. Third game back and another dud. More so than physical, I think the toll of everything is getting to him mentally, likely putting too much pressure on himself right now.

Ty needs to play more. Coleman and Quincy need to shoot open 3s. Shannon still has rust too fight through. Can we hit layups please. Ugly win. Moving on
Having a good practice is different than an actual game. Takes a little bit to get used to the pace. Also, the case is in the back of his mind. Once he relaxes, he will start playing better. In the meantime, his teammates have to pick him up. Hopefully this will make them stronger.
And he's easily our best player on defense, except maybe for Coleman
I don't get it either. If he misses FTs and has no outside shot, so what?

then when we went up and got the lead and closed out the game I was like this...............

That was like watching a drunk bum fight. Take the W and burn the game film.
Never in doubt. I like the gameplan,let em hang around, miss shots and assignments on purpose so we can work on some end of game pressure and closing it out

I agree 100 percent with all of this, but Ty can also help us GET the lead. He proved that in a big way in the first half. He was excellent, then barely sees the court while Shannon and Harmon are struggling.

Should have been more involved late in the game. Not loud when Indiana had the ball until the last minute.
It's bizarre. Brad is _admittedly_ bad about getting into the game and only coaching the five on the floor. He needs to start actively guarding against this. I don't know why it's been so bad lately and won't speculate. He just needs to fix it.
And yeah, Illinois is good defensively. We've known that all year. But really.. TJ, and Ty, and Coleman are very good. Quincy is fine. Relative to those guys, we hide Domask out there, and especially Goode and Harmon. Take Ty off the floor and it can take a few minutes for teams to figure out what they've got available to them. Forget to sub him back in and, well...
Now we have to beat Ohio state Tuesday. Hope NW loses. Again missed bunnies.
Interesting that adding Shannon back has been more disruptive than taking him away.
