Illinois 70, Indiana 62 Postgame

Huge lack of confidence from TSJ, there were a few open 3s he didn’t even consider shooting. I know he has been so bad from there lately but if he doesn’t get back to taking and hitting open ones it’ll really limit him.
At this level (and high level for a really good program), it takes time when you miss quite a few games to get your "game legs" back and your chemistry back as a team. I'd say it'll take about as many games as he sat out. This team fights through adversity. Expect that will be the case during a 6 game stretch that interrupted our season. Deep breath. This team is really good, really deep, plays hard, wants to win, and most importantly is unselfish. A win is a win. Pile them up while we're getting ourselves back into that comfort we had before the suspension. This is the team that will make the deep run we've been waiting for.

Should have been more involved late in the game. Not loud when Indiana had the ball until the last minute.
Being a professional bench warmer I was somewhat perplexed just how quiet the bench was when we were loosing.
I will admit that was not college ball and 50 years ago .

Like that we won, yet serious question - would the team have been better off if Shannon had not come back?

Whoa whoa whoa whoa...whoa. I vividly remember punching a hole in a closet door watching the last of Weberball. I don't know if it was this bastard child of a game or not...but omg.

Oh the terrors! I was at that game. Still has nothing on the game last season. The Penn State game last year was the worst I've ever seen in 25 years of watching. I ended up leaving with 10 minutes left, and A LOT of fans were doing the same.

Ugly win, but we got it done. If the game played out that way how would last year's team have done?

Lot to improve on, and TJ will keep improving. The name of the game is peaking in late Feb to early March, not right now
Absolutely. January was a crazy month especially the back half. Tuesday will be another gut check. The first week of February is where this team regains the form.

Love Coleman but another game where he gets dominated in the post
I would like to see hard doubles or digs when he's outmatched. He's working is a** off one on one against guys with bigger bodies. I'd dare the other teams to shoot from the outside vs. get bullied like that. I think we'll adjust. Coleman may be our most important player. He has frustrated me throughout his career, but he's really really good! Has things most guys his size don't have, and a lot of them. I 100% believe he's 100% bought in.

The orange krush seriously needs to step up its chant game and “buy in” more. Seriously, student sections can affect the game in a big way & the krush is not what it used to be.
The SFC can still get loud, but it’s all reactionary. Virtual silence after tipoff and I don’t even remember the last time I heard
I-L-L… step up, kids and help the team.

I was at the 09 PSU game and last year's. Both frustrating for different reasons. But the most stomach churning, teeth gnashing, forehead vein popping abomination of a basketball game I've been to is last year's Braggin Rights game. I've never left a game that early before.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered because I have not been able to read the entire thread but....what's the story on QG.

LUCKED OUT! This team has reverted back to pass and shoot and shoot not very well. What happened to the booty ball and the constant cuts thru the lane? They came out again not ready to play and damn near didn't wake up from their sleep walking. Once again a big man in the middle almost beat us single handedly. Matter of fact if Reneau hadn't fouled out he would have beaten us by himself. We had NO answer for him and haven't had an answer for any opponents Big inside. Hawkins simply is not strong enough to defend inside. Other teams have picked that up and are exploring it. Our free throw shooting that has been stellar for most of the year has soured the last 3 of 4 games. Need to make some quick adjustments or OSU who has been playing poorly will hang one on us Tuesday.

Canadian wing/forward who we recruited out of high school but ended up playing first for Syracuse then Oregon before transferring to Illinois for his final year. Good shooter, great leaper, best rebounder we've had since at least Mike Davis. Double double machine. Welcomed his first child to the world earlier this year.

Or do you just mean why didn't he play much today? Brad said he was a little off or something.

An ugly win is better than a pretty loss. We need to maintain our perspective here. Yes, we are going through a very rough patch, but it’s much better now than late February. We have time to re-adjust.

The integration of TSJ is proving more difficult than we all expected. I have faith that this will all get worked out and we’ll be hitting on all cylinders soon.

I think there was too much standing around and not enough cutting to the hoop as other posters have mentioned. Need more movement and motion for our offense to be successful. We also need to really work on our interior D as we are giving up too many points in the paint. Missing a boatload of shots at the rim. The law of averages should start working in our favor.

And I live in Scottsdale, AZ. If we get to the Final Four I’ll host a pre-game bash at my house with @pruman91, @illini0440, @Indy Illini Fan and @OrangeNBrood_Redux as the guests of honor before we all head to Glendale for the game. I’ve not run this idea past my wife but I’m sure she’ll be cool with it.

I went through the play by play and we missed 15 shots inside 7 feet. How can we not finish on layups? Add that to the untimely turnovers and all the missed FT's and this is what you get. I hope TSJ gets his mojo back, and I wish CoHawk would cry a little less often. Glad our bench made their contributions and thank the good Lord we have Domask!
All layups are not equal. The Illini are missing contested layups, not uncontested bunnies.
This is more of a poor shot selection issue than an "unlucky to be missing easy shots" issue.

It was an ugly win. But for those foreseeing gloom and doom, can you tell me which one of these "W"'s is ugly and which one is pretty?

we're 15-5, which is pretty damned good. Is it where we wanted to be? No, Loyalty would not be satisfied unless we're 20-0. Oh, and by the way, the following ranked teams lost today

7 Kansas loses to unranked ISU
8 Auburn loses to unranked Mississippi St.
11 Oklahoma loses to 20 Texas Tech

I think the announcers highlighted that top ranked teams were 4-7 last week, or something along those lines. Every team is going to have multiple losses this season.

Iowa State is ranked #23 and favored by 5.5, Mississippi State is pretty darn good & so is Texas Tech…

Best thing I saw today was Maryland blowing out Nebraska
