No need for a long dissertation from me. They played their asses off today. You can’t play harder than we did today. Every 50/50 ball, every hustle play was ours. The defense in the second half was exceptional.

Kylan Boswell is a DUDE.
Could 5 days of rest have had any input? This team is what it is, and on an even playing field, that is pretty elite.

Awesome album.

Actually, not really. Offensively, the team is most efficient when Jake Davis is on the floor. And that's a fact not a guess.

However, defensively Illinois plays at different level when KB is on the floor. That is by far the most completitive team we have had in 35 years when they are at their best. We need all 8 players to compete for a national championship.

For me? I am focused on USC. They are physical and will give us fight. They have 5 players that score in double figures and they are going to be the tallest team we have played so far this year.
That says it all. Great word!

The only time I paid attention to them. the front row was on their feet , really active. But the next 3 grows were meh.
Some of them got the message.

Boswell changes this team. Another guard on the floor who can handle make tough plays and increase the pressure on D. He adds depth that I think was exploited in the two loses. The offense was good without him but how we played D today was a different level. When we get all our starters back we can play so many different ways and there are legitimately 8 players who can go 15+ points any given night
Why even bother saying "you think" ? It's obvious it was exploited. IMO it's very impressive that we were so close in those two losses. Especially vs Wisconsin with both Kylan and AS out.

Wagler. Is there a more fun guy to watch at any level of basketball right now... No! He is just Joy on the Floor.

I don't think it's just Wagler, I find the team easy to root for. Lot of leadership and good character up and down the roster and staff, and the guys are playing really unselfish. They've had a couple tough match-ups, but I'm crossing my fingers that makes them more dangerous in the post season.

Missed the game while driving back home from special time in my hometown. But I did get to listen to most of it. Was immediately rewarded after tuning in on the radio with a Boswell triple...and it answered many questions in my mind.

As usual, the gushing, off-the-charts, hyperbole on this board reaches the nether regions of stratospheric hype. It is unwarranted as this team has proven capable of beating anyone on any day on a neutral floor...especially with a non-MSU biased officiating crew. What it does do is relieve a lot of doubt among fans (and maybe a few players, but I doubt that) that this team is fading down the stretch. Health has had a big impact on losing two in a row, and I doubt that would have occurred had we been healthy.

Now, once again we will go back into the purgatory of waiting for AS to hit the floor again. He is a huge part of this team and is the only one who can provide a unique combination of skills on both ends. Love to see him and Hummer coming into a new team and program and finding such valuable ways to step up, find their role, and shine when needed.

Also, another tip of the cap from me to Jake Davis for playing his heart out during KB's absence. He truly needs to set his sights on shooting70%+ from the arc for the rest of the season. Why? Because he can...and if he believes that, it is a goal that can be reached.

Finally, this team, from Jan. 11 through Feb.4, proved to me, beyond a doubt, that they are a potential National Champion. But they are just one of a dozen. What bodes well is that we are getting closer to being fully healthy exactly when needed. Hopefully, we have paid our penance to the injury gods and can get a fair chance to climb the mountain. They all have my deep respect and full support as they march together up that steep slope. Go Illini!!!
💯.
Look, we beat a solid team with two very good guards by 20 in spite of shooting generally godawful from 3.
When this team has Andrej back, I think a lot of teams are going to start hoping we jump a seed line or 2.

Taking MSU and WI to OT (barely missing on regulation time and OT wins) on a short rotation is not really that harmful to our analytics and eventual seedingals. We have guys playing starter minutes and having success that really should be 6, 7, 8 coming off the bench. Opposing coaches know what that means in March and April when we're all the way back. This game solidified that for me. We're insanely efficient on offense and you better be really good scoring it because you're not going to get too many bites at the apple.

No one said it's not a foul. It was an observation that the refs just don't seem to call as many fouls when Wagler is driving to the hoop and going off one foot. Which is obviously BS.

This link used to go to all the post game shows. It seems to no longer work. Page states:

"Sorry, the page you're looking for cannot be found"

I have tried searching the website for the Fasteners Post Game show various ways. So far, I cannot find it.

Anyone have a better (working) link to find it on the website? I have found it in Spotify but I would prefer to use the NG page.

They said all along "Mid-February" for Boswell. Yesterday was "Mid-February."

Yep. Would've rolled both of them, but part of life. If I had been born into an extremely wealthy family, id live on my own private golf course in a warm island somewhere, surrounded by smoking hot women, endless high end bourbon, personal chef, etc.

But life doesnt always go as planned.
Yes, it is mid-February, but Boswell said after the game their target for his return was the USC game. So he returned a game early.

We become a three headed monster with Wagler, Boswell and Mirk all capable of initiating our offense. Add in Andrej as a 4th option that has a lot of ability to create his own shot its just crazy all the options we have with the three point shooters and the size of the Ivisic twins. Its no wonder why our offense is so efficient.

Maybe this is the new link?

But today's game is not up yet...perhaps it takes a day or so to post latest game now?
I don't see it posted anywhere yet, which is unusual. The post-game show did happen per a News-Gazette article mentioning Mike LaTulip.

My guess is that it's a glitch and it'll show up by tomorrow. I need my regular dose of LaTulip and Evan Conn, plus likely calls from Simeon, Benny, and Hank... not sure what happened to Steve from Peoria 'cause I used to like that guy's comments as well.

Great win, great offensive rebounding and defense. BAM plays at a faster speed and it's really disruptive on defense and gives a very different look on offense. Wagler playing 39 minutes and Mirkovic playing 37 minutes in a 20 point win is a problem. Not sure what it will take for Underwood to go deeper on the bench -- maybe only if Ty comes back we'll go to a 9-man rotation? When did the Illini start working the clock? It must have been around the 12 minute mark.

There were terrible calls (watching Keaton get fouled multiple times on each drive is infuriating) but I think the Illini got the benefit of more of them. It doesn't seem like we normally get so many steals and fast break points also.

Defense was great and I feel like outside of Wilkerson and Alexis, nobody else from IU got going. Neutralizing DeVries was important and they seemed to have done that. We have 5 guys who can go off on any given game between Wagler, Mirkovic, Stojakovic, Tomi, and Boswell. That's a whole lot for any team to have to deal with and prepare for. Great bounce back game!
I would argue all 8 rotation players are more than capable of going off on any given night.
