It's been 21 years- I was a freshman in high school.. I promised my 9 year old I'd take him if we made a final 4.. tonight I broke down crying when the game ended- I got to tell my son we are going to Indy. He jumped into me and gave me the biggest hug he's ever given me. Maybe TMI- but I didn't have many positive experiences with my dad growing up, so to be able to take my son to a final 4 is a bucket list item. Illini sports have given me so many memories- I'm so grateful to get to experience this memory with my best buddy. ILL
That's awesome T-Rex. Enjoy that time together.

Iowa fans are losing their minds on X about the officiating, the refs kept them in the game.
Winners adapt. Losers complain about the officiating.

Iowa didn’t adjust to how the game was being called. A few missed calls both ways, but overall no major issues with the officiating. For the most part, a foul at one end was a foul at the other end.

Got home from said wedding a few hours ago and immediately turned on the recording of the game while reading all of your posts.

Moved to tears a few times to say the least.

I’m so incredibly proud of this team for accepting their roles perfectly and stepping up to the moment. I’m incredibly proud of our coaching staff for having their break through moment, I’ve been hard on them (see Nebraska post game thread) and man did they shut me up.

Wagler is an absolute legend and it’s an honor to have him in an Illinois uniform.

Like many of you - Illinois basketball is my biggest passion in sports and I am so so so freaking excited for us fans who have gone through the mud the last 21 years. I can’t wait for next weekend - see you there!

GO ILLINI AND WHY NOT US!? :illinois: :chief:

I was able to watch the entire game before I had to get up on stage for a show. To say I was hyped is an understatement! High energy during the entire show, it was a great evening. I didn’t get to celebrate with a great whisky, but I’ll make up for it tonight. As an aside, I didn’t say it was gonna be a fun ride . . .

62 years ago, my wife transferred from SIU Carbondale to UIUC to be with this idiot she had fallen in love with. We made 59 incredible years together doing everything orange and blue humanly possible. I lost her 5 weeks ago.

I'm sitting at this keyboard crying because I know she is celebrating. ILL hon.

To everyone thinking about parents and loved ones no longer with us that you wish you could hug right now, this is why we put so much love into our fandom… cheers!

You hit things on the head. This is what Sports is about. Pro or college or anywhere.

Once you get past all the other stuff – the money, media, egos, recruiting, NIL, The Portal, press-conferences, all the practices and the travel, all the miles driven and flown by fans to follow Their Beloved Teams – it’s about People and the teams they love and how this enriches our lives. It’s about our family and friends, and it’s about You.

In Illinois we’ve had a few moments in this 21st Century like this that get you right in your Heart ... Both Chicago baseball teams finally bringing the Big Trophies home... the Blackhawks bringing back some Cups... the Illini near-miss that still aches.

There just is no feeling like it when you hit that higher level. The joy. The relief. The fulfillment of Dreams. The rewards for hard work and believing.

These become moments you will always remember like births and weddings and times of honors. They become part of the fabric of one’s soul and life experience.

Enjoy it, everyone. These kinds of moments don’t happen as often as we wish they did.

Asking for a friend(s) anyone see Tomi score in the post? 🤣🤣
I wanted to see it all game!

When Tomi went on his heater and Iowa called timeout, my text to the group chat I have with my brothers was pretty simple.

FEED. F**ING. TOMI.

(But the second word was fully spelled out. 🤣 )

It feels kind of surreal that they actually did it. This is not the dominant team from 2005 but this is a team we knew had the potential to make it to the Final Four if they put it all together. It feels like that Wisconsin OT loss in the BIG Tournament and that players only meeting at Boswell's apartment maybe got them re-focused. I will take that loss if it meant a re-focused energy straight to the Final Four!
Surreal is a good word for the way I feel too.
