Wow, what a win! Just finished watching and reading everything Illini I could find, with a celebratory pour in hand. So much fun to be able to keep watching this team, and enjoy the tourney for once in a loooong time. Every other year, I've already moved on to baseball by now.

I enjoyed a Final Four run while on campus.
My daughter enjoying Elite Eight.
My heart is full. 🧡💙

Given the timeline one could speculate that she's enjoying this Elite Eight run because really, really, really enjoyed that Final Four run. It's at least conceivable. Amiright?!

It was a year ago...March 29...that my mom died. I was up with her all night through the night of the 28th and morning of the 29th. Nor sure I'll be able to sleep much tonight. TSJ was her favorite player. She would have been very happy about these last few games.

Thought those up at zero dark 30 might like to see her flowers I put out today...

Good morning, Wake up, campers! Rise and shine! Smell the coffee and bacon!

I love these announcers: One of them said Illini haven't been to NCAA Championship Game since 2005 when BILL SELFi was the coach. Gee. I must have missed something way back.

And will some of them stop pronouncing Illinois as "El-annoy? It's annoying and makes me ill.

Give me Deon and Brian! The best.

Other than these things, I'm content. For now.

Update: My complaints are silly and stupid and trivial compared to above post. I am so sorry for your loss.

FAMILLY!

Then there's this from something called On3.com as they break down Ill vs Uconn .. "Illinois hasn't reached the Elite 8 since the 2000-01 season when Bill Self was the head coach."

We must have gone straight from the sweet 16 to the final four in 05 and skipped the elite 8 altogether. Now THAT is elite.

I may be reading too much into it, but it seems like Brad is such a big picture guy that he played Dain and DGL early, often and in the most critical parts of the game (not sure I would have had the cahunas to have Dain in at the end when free throws were critical) in order to say loud and clear that he will be giving them meaningful PT next year, effectively dispelling any thoughts about the portal.

Man, I don't think its set in for a lot of folks just how good of a team we just beat while *never* trailing for the entire game. They came into tourney having absolutely dominated the other #1 seed Houston by almost 30.

That was the Big 12 champs we just beat y'all, we can beat anyone at our best.

Illinois has become the Rodney Dangerfield of the NCAA tourney. Absolutely no respect from media, analyst [except Candace Parker gave them a little love] NCAA, commentators. The NCAA stacked the deck against them, placed them in a tough East region, putting their televised games on the back network instead of prime time, playing until 1:00 am eastern time. They have done everything they could to get these guys out of the tourney. THE MEDIA PUT TOGETHER THEIR TOP 10 PLAYERS IN THE TOURNEY-SHANNON/ DOMASK WAS NOT EVEN MENTIONED. Don't know what the hell they were looking at!
The Illini put together one of the best defensive performances of the year against the #1 ranked defense in the land, yes the ILLINI out defensed the best at their own game! This was a total team effort from star TJS, Marcus and Hawkins held these guys together when TJ sat out for 6 minutes with foul trouble. Dain, Quincy, Luke, Ty, DGL made big contributions at critical times in the game. Except for poor free throw shooting which would have made this game easier The Illini made us ALL proud tonight.
The officiating once again left something to be desired, obvious charging fouls called blocks.
Well to ALL the MEDIA, Analyst and experts take this game and SHOVE IT WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE! This Fighting Illini deserve everyone's RESPECT!

So obviously there has been a ton of love for Shannon but we gotta recognize Domask. He didn't have a pretty stat line but he is 100% the engine that makes the offense run. When he was out of the game there was absolutely no flow and they looked lost, even with TSJ in. Domask was STRONG with the ball when ISU trapped and consistently made good passes out of the double team. Also big credit to Coleman for making himself available and then slicing up the defense with the next pass. For the most part the ball movement was CRISP!
