Illinois 72, Nebraska 56 Postgame

#201
First half vs Wisconsin+19:13 of second half vs Nebraska=26 points given up in 39:13 minutes.

Second half vs Wisconsin+First half vs Nebraska=72 points given up in 40 minutes.

How about we play 40 minutes of defense from here on out and hold everyone to 30 points so Matt and TSJ can chuck up as many 3’s as they want??

Honestly Nebraska was making tough contested shots in the first half. There’s a reason we’re up to #14 in KenPom defense now

Missouri is a terrible team. That loss was a freak show. We'll see about Iowa.
Missouri is all offense, no defense. Number 5 in KenPom Adjusted Offense, Number 180 in KenPom Adjusted Defense. More extreme than Iowa who is Number 3 in KenPom Adjusted Offense and Number 133 in KenPom Adjusted Defense. I dunno how Iowa keeps getting away with these elite offenses, I keep saying it'll be different when "so and so" leaves and then they just replace him. Hell, between last and this season they literally just cloned Keegan Murray and threw a new one out there (/s). Kris Murray should go Pro and Rebreca is a COVID-eligible Super Senior, so they'll both be gone, so maybe I'll be right next year!

(no doubt about it, McCaffrey is just a damn good offensive coach who has a great knack for discovering talent without elite "on paper" recruiting... although what's kind of ironic is he's basically the polar opposite of Kirk Ferentz who always has teams with elite defense/special teams and horrific offenses, as a result both do "pretty well" without ever really hitting that next level)

Yup. Lets stop shooting open 3’s all together and see how many points we get in the paint…..
I think there is a balance. If you are the 11th worst 3 point shooting team in the BIG and half your shots are from 3, you better get good 3 point shots. Our 3 point shooting has been horrible lately.

Seriously what is going on at Iowa and Wisconsin. You got 2 solid sets of twins.... Then out if nowhere one of the twins goes ballistic and are all Americans....I think Iowa activated the source code in kris this year to keep their cloning program going. Wisconsin may have had a defect or they are slow playing it with Davis.

Either way their eugenics program is scary!

I like shooting threes but there are so many opportunities to drive. I hoped Hawk would be one of those drivers but it looks to me that his quickness to beat a man is lacking. He it’s great in the open court. I am a drive and kick or drive to get fouled or score. It seems BU wants the three pointer. Melendez is best when he drives and I hope he starts driving more.

So CoHawk starts at the top of the key, dribbles halfway to the basket with his back to the rim and runs into traffic, so he throws the ball out to one of our perimeter 3 pt shooters who are throwing up bricks tonight.

It’s very rare that CH is defended by someone who can block his shot.

Why can’t he put up a 10 ft jump shot?

If Nebraska's Driesel can get inside for 7 or 8 bunnies Hawkins should be able to.
