Why can't we back cut one or two times on the dribble hand off? Seems like every game we have one or two turnovers just doing the handoff because the defender is selling out in the passing lane.
I’m thinking that is most likely what we are supposed to be doing on any kind of overplay like that. Our guys probably are just not making good reads on that.

Any action built into an offense, worth a grain of salt is usually gonna have
a counter/read built right into it.

Why do I think this?

I think I’ve heard Underwood say he is a fan of the Princeton offense. The dribble hand-off stuff we’re doing looks to be closely derivative of the Chin series in the Princeton offense. If you know anything about the Princeton Offense…they like to back door you to death; and to the point of being automatic. Overplay=Backdoor cut

I know when we ran the Spread. He gave the wings the green light to go back door
whenever they were overplayed or they
thought they could gain an advantage.
Also, I know in the Spread…there was a basic dribble entry whereby a guard (signaled the push through)dribble chased or dribbled at the wing pushing him into a backdoor cut and then filling the vacuum…

So yeah, you can bet something that’s pretty darn basic Hoops 101 stuff like that…Underwood is on top of it and then some. We’re probably just not executing or making good reads.
