He should also get his facts straight. Trent is 5th year. Now as for Gordy Bohannon of Iowa, I think he has played since Dr. Tom Davis was coachIf this guy was Indiana's coach, maybe the game would have been different.View attachment 15062

I posted about DMW’s “halted” drives after a recent game, and it has been driving me nuts too. I did notice in IU game that it seems to happen more when he drives to left side of basketball. Sometimes he just has a slight advantage, but to your point there was one play against Indiana where he had the guy truly on his back and a free pathway to basket. He then just stopped — and again that was on left side of basket. Just a confidence thing I guess, but I will say that I’ve noticed it more of late (last half dozen games or so) and that might be a good thing. I think it wasn’t as noticeable before because he wasn’t probing defense as much with dribble. Now if he can take the next step and take it all the way to basket, could be an additional wrinkle teams need to consider.Refs came out with two super ticky-tack fouls after half time, but then they really cleaned everything up. Nice change of pace! Anyone notice Damonte drives past his defender, gets that defender on his back, has an open lane to the glass and then Damonte just STOPS and looks for someone to pass to? That's gotta drive Brad nutz. In the second half he finally drove, no hesitation and went up to draw the foul. FINALLY!!! Please, please, please finish that drive and get the basket or draw the foul. Damonte is so quick and strong on the bounce... he just needs to finish. Nice to see him pulling the trigger a bit more from the arc too. Just a solid effort from beginning to end from this team. Very fun to watch.
Not trying to be a wise a$$ but not sure to whom you are referring? He was the most explosive athlete I've ever seen at Illinois. His long and successful NBA career didn't surprise me at all.
Being #2 stinks….From the Indi Star
Illinois defense stiffens
The Hoosiers boasted the Big Ten’s best defense in conference games alone, per KenPom, entering play Saturday. But Illinois’ second-half performance offered a reminder they are a close No. 2.
And, there was a perfect seal from the big man (not sure if Kofi or Payne), so even a miss would have been likely to be picked up on an offensive rebound.I posted about DMW’s “halted” drives after a recent game, and it has been driving me nuts too. Tyler said afterward that, with so little time remaining, he wasn't sure he had enough time to dunk - just wanted to get the ball out of his hands to the basket.I've always thought Tyler wasn't timid or uncertain about himself as he pulled in his arms after scoring. He seemed absolutely stunned that he had at least three steps to the hole completely unguarded for a wide open layup, and not an IU player within 15 feet of him. As was every single person watching that moment live.
And, yeah, how Zeller fell asleep for a moment and left the lane completely open remains a mystery. Meh. I'll take it.
I hadn't watched the video of that game-winning shot for many years. I like the way Groce designed it (I assume), and how Bertrand kept to the far perimeter to draw his man away from the lane. Everything stacked on the near side and IU had no hope of weak side help once Zeller lost Tyler.Tyler said afterward that, with so little time remaining, he wasn't sure he had enough time to dunk - just wanted to get the ball out of his hands to the basket.
I always thought he was exaggerating pulling his hands down so the officials would know he got it off in time instead of trying to go up and drop it in. Not sure if you're joking or....It reminded me of Kimba Walker against UConn
Nah, he was a frosh when JCL was a senior. He should also get his facts straight. Trent is 5th year. Now as for Gordy Bohannon of Iowa, I think he has played since Dr. Tom Davis was coach
Yep. JCL was a Henson recruit as I remember it.Nah, he was a frosh when JCL was a senior.

Is is truth or myth that BP‘s view was obstructed, so he glanced up at the screen on the scoreboard to see TG begin his cut and thus knew where & when to throw it? If true, that’s the stuff of legends…I hadn't watched the video of that game-winning shot for many years. I also like the Illini uniform numerology. 0 (McLaurin); 1 (DJ); 2 (Bertrand); 3 (Paul, inbounding); 42 (Tyler). Which one of these is not like the others?!
I don’t think so. Opponent played same number of minutes. Can some of that 4th quarter drop off be due to the fact that our starters are playing so many minutes and the legs are starting to give out a bit? I know that Trent “never wants to come out” and that he always gives us everything he’s got, but would that “everything” be a bit more effective if he and the other starters got a few more breaths on the bench earlier in the game?
Thank you, I am out of my quota of DMW comments for the rest of the year.Refs came out with two super ticky-tack fouls after half time, but then they really cleaned everything up. It was lunch time. Kofi gave him a leather sandwich!
