I would rather Petro and Underwood figure this out without a multi game benching like Tre White last year. Petro could be a huge part of this team later this year and next. Had very unique skills.

I was frustrated for Petro in the Tenneseee game. Three times he blew past his original defender only to get bumped by another on his way to a layup. And each time, nothing was called. It’s almost as if he’s so fast the refs can’t register what’s happening.

Regarding Ament, in NBA terms, it's not really what you look like today, it's what they think you will look like in 2 or three years. There were certainly some games this time of year last year where you would have watched Will R. and said, "NBA? Really?"

Ament got pushed around by all of our 20-something year old big guys. Not shocking. He was arguably Tennessee's best player in the 2nd half.

Yep, in fact there were approximately 7,000 posts of exactly that nature on this website last season.

For sure - he was getting bumped pretty obviously everytime he drove to the basket with no calls - but he can't let that frustration take him out of the game, which it seemed to do. Take it back out if you didn't get the call, etc. I think Kylan gets those calls 9 times out of 10 so it was a little odd he wasn't getting them, but to your point, it might be a new guy needed to earn his calls a bit or maybe a thinking that he was exaggerating the bumps

Seems to me the difference between Petrovic and Boswell taking the ball to the rim is Boswell is so strong that the bumps don't affect him to the degree they do Petrovic. Heck, even Boswell was struggling at the rim the first part of last season before he turned it around. I think Petro will adapt and time with Fletch will help... if he and everyone else is patient.

Or, all refs just universally hate the University of Illinois.
Don't forget about Occam's razor, here.

Physicality in the states is a lot different than overseas. You are going to get contact here that isn't called. In addition to being a bulldog, Boswell has learned to either initiate the bump or slow down and wait for it, then elevate through the contact before the defense recovers from the bump. (Andrej is also outstanding at getting into his defender on the way up) The Euro guys are used to elevating and getting a call if they get contact. It just isn't called all the time here. I recall KJ getting pretty frustrated about it too.

He needs some acting lessons from Mirk.
