I kind of like this stretch where the Illini are just under the national radar, doing the rope-a-dope, sneaking up on teams, while we steadily get better with each passing game and then burst on the national scene with others saying "Who are these guys?" Brad and staff are preparing them well for a huge jump in the rankings and a deep tourney run. Lavin, an excellent judge of team talent, sees it happening.
I am so in agreement here. In potential tournament games we need 10 minutes out of Omar. If he can just play solid defense and hit the boards he is very very valuable. He will be the center next year, so all the time practicing against Kofi can’t hurt.

Great game - no rust to be seen anywhere, Kofi with a double-double, no yelling by BU (just needed a haircut trim, should be accomplished by Thurs), and unfortunately Podz got christened by the Barn out of bounds end line, bet it won't happen again. Now - Beat MD!

Have to sit back and appreciate how special it is to be watching the best big man to ever play at IL just dominating a season like he is. That 4-out, 1-in with Kofi is a thing beauty.

Selfishly disagree!
Saw some really good intensity out of the seniors - namely Trent and Damonte, as well as Grandy. Would like to see more of that and development of more of a killer instinct instead of getting lackadaisical with a lead. Thought we tried to force it to Kofi for a few minutes in the first half but all in all a really nice game after a long layoff. Helps when the team can hit shots and they have been consistently doing it for weeks now after the 2 early losses. Like where they are headed and hope AC can give even more of a boost coming back soon.
The more often we are in the top 25 more exposure we get. Keep those recruits rolling in!

A great win from our boys! Something about blowing out the gophers is just satisfying. Kofi is a beast.
The only time the fatigue really showed was the last 7 or so minutes of the first half. We played with better pace to start the second.
Also this is rarely mentioned but: good job from the refs! A well called game
Sure...I know it won't happen...but could care less. My preference...un-ranked when playing for a national title. The whole country will be pulling for the Illini...biggest story of the year.
Kofi looked a little spent late in the second half but was having so much fun out there I don't think Brad wanted to take him out. The other starters looked fine all second half to me, impressive after 10 COVID positives just last week.
