Overall a solid team win. Good to see Tomi play well...maybe a harbinger of things to come.
And yet, what an head-shaking stretch in the middle of the first half. Extremely poor Illini play combinded with mind-boggling officiating allowed a 13 pt lead to vanish in about 5 min. And then we hit reset and played well on both ends for the rest of the game. Crazy game. But this was a good outcome and an easier win than expected.
VCU is a team that plays hard no matter what...tip of my cap to the Rams.

Not inference on whether a good or bad thing, but 24 3pt attempts — our second lowest in a game this year (behind LIU back in November).
Really think that’s our best game of the year. Certainly defensively. And offensively never settled, kept attacking. Withstood crummy officiating early and answered VCU run with a vengeance on both sides of the half.
Feels so damn good to be back in the second weekend. Don’t stop now boys.

Sweet 16, second weekend, and playing really good basketball all the way around. Houston will be a major challenge in what essentially is a home game for them.
