2 Things a number of VCU fans seemed really certain of prior to the game:

1.) They would tire us out worse even than they did Carolina. Not. (They’re the ones that looked like they needed oxygen.)
2.) If they held us under 80 points they would win.( Don’t think they planned on not breaking 60 themselves…ha friggin ha)

Wrong…AND Wrong Punks.

A lot of talk of Andrej hitting the portal after the season due to disappointment with losing the starting role to Jake. The staff needs to make it a priority to assure him of a starting role, help him continue to develop, and bring him back as a key building block on next year's team. Losing Keaton and Bos will be tough, can't let Andrej move on too.
A lot of talk where? Can you cite please?

"As of March 21, 2026, there are no confirmed reports of Andrej Stojaković entering the transfer portal. However, minor speculation has surfaced in online circles (such as the Trilly Discord) suggesting he could be on "portal watch" as the season concludes"

He will be a starter next year, but I am lost here. There isn't much of any such talk of him transfering. We just used 4 AI searches and the above is what we got.

Love the look on Ty's face in the background. Can't wait to see that intensity on the court next year. Meantime, on to Houston. This team should be able to play hard and loose. I think they will make their underdog status and having to play a true road game (you know, the type of game the NCAA said shouldn't happen again shy of a Final Four after the Illini had to play Kentucky in Lexington) as a badge of honor.

This was a very impressive win. I don’t care that VCU was an 11 seed. They were a very hot team and Illinois came to play. The key part of the game was end of the 1st half. To go from 26-28, to 35-28 at end of the half was massive

I guess Petro wanted to add to his statline a turnover … odd handing the ball to VCU
I was uncomfortable with that; not very classy and out of character for us.

Sweet Sixteen bound ,again................I love it . especially how the tide turned in the second half into an Illini tsunami flooding the court with slam dunks and excellent offensive and defensive play by this special Illini squad !!!!!!!!

I found out right after the game ended that my bestest bud from my childhood was in the hospital with AFIB problems again so I called him and he is getting a lot of fluids and expects to be in the hospital for the next few days......praying for him big time right now.........

My emotions are happy for the beloved's great win and my bud's problems so I will close for now and post more tomorrow.........

According to Torvik, the Penn game was our 2nd best offensive performance of the season, and this game was the 2nd best defensive performance of the season!
At 78.8, it was our best Q1 defensive performance- a very welcome surprise given that's my main concern with this team (next best is 87.6 at Iowa, and that was a long time ago)

Ironically, today's offensive performance (120.9) is not good by our standards (6th worst on the season, and 3 of those were in November), while Penn was our 3rd worst defensive performance (112.8).

Doesn't matter how we do it as long as we win.
