11 AM win...I take it every single time.

We are 15 and 3...thats awesome.

- Need to be better against the zone. We just hurled 3's and thats the point of a zone, but we have to be able to make better, quicker adjustments. 3's fell in the 2nd half which is why we won.

- Andrej looks frustrated and at times disengaged. I think there got to be a conversation on how to utilize him better. That kid can score and is long and athletic. Yes we want him rebounding and playing defense, but I think to get the most out of him on the defensive end, we got to get him involved a bit more, just so he feels more in the flow of the game.

- Z and Tomi might just need to be 50/50 on minutes...Z is playing at a very high level right now.

- Keaton is prolly going in the lottery, I get that...but you can see his lack of strength being an issue...I just want him another year to put on 10-15 lbs of muscle and then go top 5 in the next draft...can we talk him into that?

- Petro...I see you...now let him try again next game...keep him engaged.

7 in a row? I'm having fun.
Wagler is moving up the mock draft charts but I don't see him playing minutes in NBA next year. Right now he cannot guard NBA caliber guards. Hopefully he comes back to Illinois next year, works on his strength and defense and becomes a top 5 NBA draft pick in 2027.

If I'm not mistaken, Illinois went from 6 to 8 in KenPom following the win. Seems a bit odd to me but I suppose this didn't help their defensive efficiency rating.
They lost 0.5 EM and 2 teams jumped over (kenpom). Some of the top ten are very close together.

On AS, the scout is clearly out on him. Teams are packing the paint when he drives. Presumably they are coaching him to pass out rather than try and score over 3 guys?
Every time I see him shooting a 3...

Z needs more minutes …

Like what we got from Petro today …

AS continues to be a black hole offensively and atrocious on defense …

Didn’t think Wagler was elite today but he was good … Can’t always be elite …

Tomi missing those 2 bunnies at the end was absolutely killer … Have to be better than that …

Did Ben even play in the 2H ??
He’s been giving me the Andy Kaufmann vibes in this regard for a while.

Yeah, 16 point favorite. Won by 10. So you’re going to drop a bit. Looks like offense stayed the same (#3), but defense fell 4 spots (#19-#23). Still at +30.28, which would be a 1 seed almost any other year.
And actually tied with Houston who is 7. Also there is large gap ahead of Florida at 9.

It can be a dangerous thing to do if egregious but it’s getting silly and disruptive to constantly go to replay on those.
I don’t know how Wagler didn’t get one at the end. Sure looked like he did a hook to me

Yep, did exactly what he needed to do for mor tic. Happy for him.

Tomi is head and shoulders the best offensive big against zone. He will plant himself at the FT line and the ball will move. The other bigs seem to still want to roam the perimeter vs zone.

With the bigs and Keaton playing so well today, it really masked how poor Andrej/Ben were. If they can't stick it from outside, they really dont provide anything out there. I loved the twin towers lineup today against Minnesota. Won't get away with it against quicker teams but Z changes so many shots/drives on D with his presence and Tomi is rock solid on O vs zone

No excuse for our sr pg to get trapped in corner vs press on last 2 possesions. Even worse to turn it over under basket for other team layup. JV HS teaches you never let other team use sideline as extra man in the press. Call timeout. Throw it off the opponents leg. Brad has the WORST in bound plays.

Strong win. Minny is going to be a problem under Medved and they gave us their best shot. Really awesome to be able to turn to our 3rd string pg and have our backup center be the leading scorer when we need a spark.
Thought we could have crushed their zone with a hi-lo lob from Tomi to Z.

Enjoy the ride folks, don’t always look for things to be upset by!

Bench minutes Illini 52, field rats 20 - Minny was gassed at the end. I am very happy for Petro, he was working his a** off on D, and seemed in the flow on O.
Even I, a basketball dope, could see Minnesota was gassed. But a great effort by the Gophers. Congrats. You is tough.

Just a question: what do Iilini do on a Friday night before a Saturday morning game?
