Andrej definitely drives well to the hole. At times, though, he doesn't finish well at all: tough shot, looses ball on the way up or has it blocked easily. Not saying this happens all the time, but if he improve finishing, that'd be great.

I also think BU should let Andrej post up more for potential baby hooks or booty ball.
He might be the best contested finisher at the rim we have. All he has to do is not force is 1 on 4 when the D collapses and kick it out when his lane is closed up.

Against the zone, Tomi caught the ball just under the FT line, made a move and hit a beautiful baby-hook type shot.

Need more of that, especially against the zone.
Agree on the hook. He also short-armed 2 consecutive 12 footers.

We are currently in a 7 game win streak in which we’ve

Had an avg margin of roughly 20 ppg
Have won every game by 2+ possessions
Won 5/7 by double digits
4/7 were away from home
Lowest margin was 6 in a quad 1a road win where we never trailed

There are things to work on but some of the chatter here and in game threads would have you think this team isn’t taking care of business right now

They are

Now let’s beat md and Purdue this week

This coach seems like a good guy but more importantly, really smart.
His take on the game and his understanding of the Illini is accurate I think.

My guess is that Minny will continue to rise.
He does seem like a good one. I wonder what kind of $ commitment he will get for retention and portal season.

Think Ben will break out eventually. He’s had some tough luck with a few spinning out. Sounds like he was working on putting more arc on his 3’s during shootaround.

I kind of look at Jake and Ben as one role, our floor spacer, and if we can get 40% from them in the aggregate on maybe 8 attempts or so in a game that’s a success. Didn’t get it today but most games we have. Jake has done the heavy lifting so far this season but could flip at any time. Glad we have 2 of them. Can go with the hot hand.

I hope you're correct. To me, though, it looks like a confidence issue. He doesn't hold his follow through and appears to pull back from his shot a hair early as he starts heading back on defense. His shots are short.

Does he now grunt for the extra force needed?

I know. And 1 made 3 point shot changes his percentage by how much? Making 1 out of 2 is progress tho. lol
I think the observation here is the way he managed his game and shots. It’s possible the coaches have worked with him so he won’t take so many tough shots? Possibly. That’s all I’m insinuating.

Nicknames making fun of guys on our team is so lame. Was lame last year, was lame in the offseason, and is lame now

He shot 2 3’s today and made 1 of them. Staff wasn’t “forcing him to shoot 3’s” today.
What’s also lame is posters with their hot takes.
Worst… comeback… ever!

At this point of the season, it doesn’t really matter too much how much we win by or how well or poorly we shoot- just stack wins. Idc if we shoot 5/20 from deep if we win. I don’t care if we win by 30 or win by 1. Stack. Dubs.

Our kenpom/NET/Torvik numbers are great. It’s at the point in the year where random upsets and craziness happens in the middle of conference play. Stay steady, find ways to win.

Agree I think it’s mostly mental at this point but it only takes a couple to go down to flip that around. If he continues to struggle teams will scout for it which means he will have more open looks. Again, good news is this year we aren’t playing him 25 minutes a game and he’s not our only floor spacer.

Well Andre sure seemed to hop up fast and move speedy Gonzalez. When team soaked him in water. In locker room. No thank you.

Brad dodged the Andrej injury question in the press conference. Usually if an injury's nothing he'd say it.

You talking about the podium post game or radio post game? All I heard was same thing he always says: don’t know anything, have to wait for trainers etc, not much to tell anyone 5 minutes after the game is over

Looked like run-of-the-mill ankle sprain to me, they wouldn’t have had him walking off the court by himself if it was serious lol

Podium post game- they asked and he responded talking about his 1000 points and Tomi loves to celebrate.

USC played bad — 3/20 from deep, 5/14 on FT, so many dumb possessions. And they still had Purdue on the ropes with a chance to win it with a last possession (awful turnover).

Purdue’s last 4 games: 8pt home win against Washington, 8pt home win against Penn State, 7pt home win against Iowa, almost lost to USC today in an ugly, ugly performance.

This thread would be on fire if we had that stretch.

And to add to this Michigan in their last 4 since a few people have been so “why can’t we blow everyone out like Michigan “ in some of this stretch

2 point win at psu with psu missing their best player
3 point home loss to wisky
10 point win at wash
10 point win at Oregon missing shelstad and bittle
