At some point even the refs had to call the fouls on Nebraska. It started kind of physical which favored them but it's evident they just don't have the horses to be truly elite. When a team lacks athleticism like them, you've got to make them beat you with plays off the dribble. We did that today and they couldn't convert as much.

OK, so Ben Humrichous did not have a good shooting night.

But he still played well on defense, got 2 blocked shots, and made some good passes.

He made a significant contribution to the win.

It could have been much better for the Illini if just a few of his 3-pointers hit, but his shots will fall in future games.

We'll need Ben in the season's home stretch.

We are halfway through the gauntlet of elite B10 teams (Purdue, Nebby, MSU, and Michigan}, and at this point I think it is really between us and Michigan for the league regular season title. From what I've seen, we are the best team, especially with Bos coming back and playing Michigan on our home court. We've had some excellent teams under Brad, but I think this one is his deepest, most talented overall, most unselfish, and most fun to coach. We are fighting our way to a 1 seed come tourney time, it's a great time to be an Illini fan.
Games to be feared:
1. MSU
2. UCLA
3. Michigan
4. IU
5. Wisconsin

The Corn Boards are complaining of the FT discrepancy but if you look at their games, they rarely get fouled. They are one of the worst teams in the conference at getting to the line.

Truly incredible the “role” players we have in Jake Davis and Ben Humrichous. Countless effort plays, defensive wins, etc. We don’t get to this point without our stars, but we certainly don’t get there without Ben or Jake

It makes sense because they're not beating guys aloft the dribble. The only one who does is sam hoiberg and he's kind of a foul merchant. Not to the same degree as fears but even he manages to get a lot of calls he initiates.
