Our height and rebounding ability, particularly on the offensive end, shooting 1-5, unselfish high level passing, and ability to avoid fouling on defense, we just crack teams in half the moment they aren't hitting all of their shots, it's just so hard to score more points than us over a 40 minute span.
Our second half run where we first hit double digits was the most out-of-sorts I've seen Nebraska this year. Just absolutely smothering them on defense/glass. It was poetic that it was punctuating by a guy dribbling it off his foot in the midst of a stunted offensive set.

Did not get a chance to see the second half; I shall be watching soon.

I pondered a double-digit win for the Illini in one of my earlier posts, because they were the underdog at Pinnacle Arena.

Whenever they're the favorites, they don't play as well.

My ponderment was almost answered. Let's do this!

This a FANTASTIC question and one that is going to require Boswell to be a true team guy. Wagler has to continue to be the "go-to guy", the alpha and ball dominant. They have to be able to coexist in the backcourt and Kylen has to be ok being a role player. This could be a struggle. It's clearly been a struggle for Drej.

Another guy that you don't want to see lose minutes is Davis. He has become wildly valuable and cannot have minutes or role altered too much.

Brad has a lot to think about and getting Boz to learn a new role, 25 games in, is going to be a challenge.
Kylan has been a consummate professional and team player for us since he has been here. There is absolutely 0% chance he disrupts team chemistry when he gets back. Might it take him a few games to get back into playing shape and trust his hand? Sure. But pouting because Keaton is killing and not accepting that? Come on, man... Kylan ain't Skyy. He wants a natty. And he ain't going to be some role player, he'll be starting.

I swear, winning big games makes people start losing their minds about how the bottom is going to fall out.

Not there. I believe that team would have beat any other team in the country 7 or 8 out of 10.

I like Hoiberg and respect him a whole lot, but he can lump it in complaining about the officials. Every time our guys went into the paint there was a scrum and our guys were getting hit. Just about every time Keaton drove he wound up on the floor and looked up at the refs after. Mirk got hit every time he tried to drive into the lane and playmake. Multiple fouls on 3 point attempts that weren’t called.

I get the free throw discrepancy but their game plan was clearly to beat the h*ll out of Keaton as much as they could knowing the refs couldn’t call every foul. Kid is just cold.

We were bigger. Stronger. Tougher. Better today.

Don’t wanna hear it

I was watching with a friend of mine who is a Gonzaga fan. He said that we look like a team who has played together for a long time.

When I told him we had 1 returning starter and another bench player who averaged under 5 pts per game last year in our starting 5, he was very surprised.

That is a huge compliment to both the players and the staff.

He also said that Wagler looked like a 16 yr old who should be starting in the NBA.

After thinking about the free throw discrepancy, their offense was basically launch 3s or flail some anxiety-induced shot up because Z was out there. It’s no wonder they didn’t shoot a ton of foul shots.

Truly incredible the “role” players we have in Jake Davis and Ben Humrichous. Countless effort plays, defensive wins, etc. We don’t get to this point without our stars, but we certainly don’t get there without Ben or Jake
We simply need Davis and Ben going off alternatively.

Huh? Did you watch the game? Their three point shots came from our MTM defense an interior screen with the ball goin side and then getting reversed when we rotrated. Our defense was designed to do just that - force a ball reversal and have them shoot three point shots (many which were unguarded).

Yep. But they are pretty unstoppable when they are hot. Just need to rotate fast enough.

Hoiberg really complaining a lot about our clutching and grabbing, preventing them from running their offense in the post game presser
After the beating they laid on any of our players driving the lane, don't feel sorry for the little fellow. Obviously was a strategy to beat Wagler up all game.

I hope everyone sees the defense Stoyocavic played on Sanfort inches second half, 2 points.
