Was there more than 1? Here is a technical on the bench at 8:18 in the second half. Wagler drove in the lane, got blocked, and fell to the floor. NW got the rebound. Started a fast break and OA and BU started yelling at the bald headed ref. He called a bench technical. It looked like the coaches were signaling for a goaltending on NW. Hard to say. A lot of hand waving was going on. lol

I was second-guessing myself so I reviewed stats on both U of I and NW websites and both say only 1 technical foul which was on our bench. There was the flagrant on Wagler for the hook and hold and previously the flagrant on Clayton of NW for the same thing.

Not trying to be contrarian, but I remember we sure were happy after our six year drought to have made it again and I would’ve been super happy to see a banner hanging after that time in the desert of non-relevance.

Think Andrej deserves a shout out here too. On a night when he didn't play as many minutes and wasn't as involved in the offense still pulls down 6 rebounds (2nd on team) and guarded his butt off. He doesn't do that earlier in the year or in his career.

Really does feel like Brad has these guys bought in on the different guy every night (besides Keaton!).
His defensive improvement has been very noticeable

I think they should continue to call it, but there should be a level of severity that is not a flagrant one, and then a level that escalates to one and beyond. Both of the fouls called in this game would be the non-flagrant level for me.
There was never any reason to open the portal to Narnia that was inevitable by making this a "player safety issue".

Yanking on another player's arm is a foul. Always was, always will be.

One freak injury and referee complaints that making the correct call is hard now leads us constantly into five minute detours into nonsense as the announcers feebly mumble about "an appeal not a challenge".

But forget all the background on it, all the minutiae. Sports is the entertainment industry, there is money and interest showered upon these games because fans enjoy spending their hard-earned money to watch. The lawyerization of the product is CATASTROPHIC to the entertainment value of sports, it gets worse every year, and the consequences are going to be dire if the interests of the entertainment product are not protected and championed.

That 20-21 team was the team … I think this might be the 2nd best team Brad has had though …

I think Trent Frazier will go down as one of my all-time favorite Illini players... Not many guys would have stuck with it like he did through the rough early years of BU's career at Illinois. You never had to question if he would bring his "A" game every night.

That's DJ Carstensen. He and high knees are what I call cartoonishly buffoonish.

I agree. Tristan und Isolde and Parsifal both solid compositions.
I'm kinda partial to Ride of the Valkyries and Lohengrin, but your choices are rock solid.

Loved him too, but….

20-21 tourney: 1 of 7 from three
21-22 tourney: 1 of 11 from three

Both years exit on first weekend

This team is more talented. We just love gossiping about the past as a way to convince ourselves we aren’t better in the present. Reality is personnel wise, we have more guys on one team who could beat you than we’ve ever had. Offensively this is the best team Brad has had (statistics back it up).

This team is built for a F4. Not saying they’ll get there, as neither did the team you referenced.

Also he’s kind of a tough matchup for us. I know he’s small but he’s ultra quick. Bam is amazing but we had him on Martinelli most of the night and we don’t really have anyone to stay in front of a guard like that. Downside of having such great positional size.
I think Lee could do it, but he's just not ready for heavy minutes yet. He did get some tick in the 1st half. Don't remember who he guarded most of the time

Have you seen the 04-05 team or no?
