[QUOTE="Goode-for-3, post: 1578748, member: 747212"] 3 things I was reflecting on this morning when thinking back to last nights game. 1. Hawkins deserves to get playing time. I really wish Brad hadn't benched him for swearing. It seems Coleman has done nothing but good things for us when he's been on the court in all of his games including this one, and yet Brad continues to not play him as many minutes as I feel like he should. I admit I'm not a coach and have limited on court experience, but Hawkins looks to be exactly the piece this team is missing and getting him more playing time is a great thing for our post-season chances. 2. When you hit a guy in the head, and it's no where near the ball, that's a technical foul and it needs to be called. It doesn't matter that the guy you hit was 7'-1" and didn't flinch or that you broke your arm in the process. It's still a technical and it's absolutely terrible that the Ref's didn't call it. Those ref's should make a public statement about such an egregious miss as it is clear they are not trying to protect the players (Kofi) in that instance. 3. I'm still sour that we lost 10+ minutes of our lives at the end of the first half, but I think the Ref's got the call correct in the end. In the moment I was certain they were going to eject the entire Penn State bench and the game was basically going to be over - and I really didn't want that to happen since I wanted to see Illinois actually string 2 halves together for once. Looking back at the NCAA Rulebook for 2020-21, Section 12 Article 2 states, "A team member who leaves the bench area during a fight shall be disqualified and ejected." So the ref's must have been watching the tape to determine if what occurred at the end of the first half constituted a "fight". Since no punches were thrown and there really wasn't even any pushing either, I think they got it right in the end by not calling it a fight. Also, Section 10 Article 1 clause b states that a coaching delay is when "Bench personnel entering the playing court before player activity has been terminated, which prevents the ball from promptly being made live or prevents continuous action. (See Rule 10-4.2.h)". Rule 10-4.2.h states, "Delaying the game by preventing the ball from being promptly made live or by preventing continuous play, such as bench personnel entering the playing 98 RULE 10 / Foulsand Penalties court before player activity has been terminated. In such a case, when the delay does not interfere with play, it shall be ignored." so the Ref's must have decided that the players rushing the court didn't interfere with play and so ignored it.
