Loved seeing Boz grab KJ and tell him to keep his chin up after he made another dumb TO. KJ came back down and made several great plays right after.
I've seen a couple posts here about Boswell and his leadership. I also noticed him barking orders on offense telling Tre White (I think) where to go. It is nice to see a guy with real leadership out there.

I might get hate for this, and I don't mean to crap on Coleman, but he whined too much to be followed as a leader. TSJ was obviously a leader, but I never saw it as clearly as I have seen with Boswell.

With how terrible the refs were today, I have 2 questions:

1. Is it just me, or did it seem no one (announcers or Illinois coaches) noticed the no-call on KJ's 3 Point shot at the end of the 1st half!? It was unbelievable, imo. Terrible missed call. Why wasn't that an issue?

2. On that play and several others, why wasn't Underwood getting on these refs? I thought he would be way more fired up at these refs as bad as they were. Is he ok?.

Like to see Will and Ben get their shots down against Chi State. Great win. Glad we beat Miz. Should have beaten Tn and NW. When we had the 10 pt lead I knew Mz would come back. Why is it hard for us to hold a lead and put the pedal to the metal. Let's hope that will come in the BT season.

Before the season I was talking with one of my SiL about the Illini transfer and freshmen. When I mentioned Boswell, he said which one was he, I said the guard from AZ that looked more like a football player. He said, oh yea.

That holding called on Tre White when his player was fighting through a screen without being anywhere near being in the play is a perfect example of BS calls.

Too bad they don't have another year of elibility so that could transfer together to Northwestern. For at leat that one game per year in Evanston. Or Penn State.

Or he's coaching a young and extremely inexperienced bunch and isn't going to go into clipboard throwing mode? Two years ago, when we had Epps, Clark, etc....some of our fandom said he was too tough. To fiery. Now, he's not tough enough?

He can tune our fans out, which is his most important attribute each and every year.
Clipboard throwing mode is just fine to me. Sometimes you gotta show some fire, passion and do some !!! chewing to get peoples attention. If some players are too soft to handle it, so be it. I get the inexperience, but it seems like the “everyday guy” motto is just a saying now. I know we need talented players, but it also seems that the stars next to players name is slowly taking over the “every day guy” toughness mentality that coach Brad has established at Illinois. A little injection of that to get the players attention is needed sometimes.

How about the mugging of KJ on his three point attempt just before halftime. Checking the clock to see if Johnson's tip-in beat the clock was complete mystery when considering how badly KJ was fouled on that three point attempt. Just a case of the refs diverting attention. The refs are playing the spread. It becomes more and more evident with each game I watch. I guess playing the money line in pre-conference games has become the way to pad your retirement fund.

I knew when I saw the T they would get most of the calls the rest of the way. I think Ben shot the eyes out of it in pre season and now Brad is starting to see that he struggles with defense and rebounding. I have faith in our coach to get the minutes right going forward

Boswell couldn't get to the line at Zona. Thankfully, our staff reminded him he's built like a running back and to initiate as much contact as possible in the lane. When all else fails and that zone causes us to tighten up, get to the line.
Yeah...Boswell can get to line and KJ can too.

On KJ near basket....not to be picky, but he doesnt seem to make bunnies consistently and he's still turning the ball more than we like. Regardless, he is likely a finalist (if not favorite) for B10 POY.

If we can beat oregon on 2 January, I will start believing in an Illini b10 championship run.

I hate that I’m saying this, but…

Assuming the individuals on the team continue to progress, I think we can do something special again this year. We showed great fight and resiliency today.

The big IF…beloved coach Underwood can make the proper lineup adjustments and the staff can give us some improved sets/plays
