great way to close out the home court season with a peking duck buffet of tender morsels of victory..........Andre was a driving force to the rim and got a double double................

Bam and Ben thanks for the memories..........I enjoyed watching you guys wear the Illini uniform proudly and with pride..............

Tomi with 2 points, a plus 7 in 24 minutes. He did give us 8 boards.

Z with 8 points, 5 boards, 2 blocks, and at least two shots altered that I caught. A plus 19 on the night In..............7 fewer minutes than his twin.

Z has to be on the floor for this team to reach its full potential, IMO. Alternatively, if Tomi is going to be on the floor, he's gotta be hitting shots because his lack of D and general energy is not helping right now.

Overall nice, low stress win against a team that has been playing better. Good to see Andrej bounce back, was also our leading rebounder. That effort tells me he gives a **** which you want to see.

I do still have some concerns that I think oregons poor play masked:
1. Going back to the second half of UCLA we are in a bit of an extended shooting funk, though we did make some in the first half.
2. Still had a few lackadaisical spells. The start of both halves and then we let them get the lead down to 13. We dropped the hammer after that and put the game away but still…
3. Tomi is really struggling both with his shot and I just don’t think he’s moving well. Looking like he do early in the season coming back from injury when he didn’t have his legs.

I do think this was a step in the right direction, but this effort could also get us in trouble against a better team. I’m actually not sure we played a ton better than we played @UCLA.

All that said, I’m going to chalk alot of it up to the physical and mental fatigue that comes at the end of a long season. We are in the dog days and we aren’t the only team that is looking lethargic. Kansas down 9@ ASU and Texas Tech losing at home to TCU to take two examples from just tonight.

Good news is we have a nice rest until Sunday when we play a sub 130 team to close out the season and if we take care of business we shouldn’t have to play again until Friday. Let’s TCB, get our legs back and reset for the postseason.

Unlikely, but a Ben Humrichous-esque redemption arc for Petrovic would be something 👀
Absolutely. Tonight Petro was a team player. That's all I've wanted to see out of him all season. Sometimes your shot isn't falling, sometimes you make the right cut and blow a layup, sometimes you try getting a ball to a teammate and turn the ball over, sometimes you blow your defensive assignment, or look silly. That stuff happens. But the effort and being a team player that needs to be there. Tonight he showed it. Loved seeing it. In my opinion, that should earn him a couple planned minutes against Maryland. He earned them.

Agreed. We were still slow to the ball and looked slow all around. Andrej getting going was nice; we will need him to get to 2nd weekend and beyond

Glad illini won tonight, but main reason for the win is Oregon just shot really poorly from 3. Illini also rebounded well.
Andrej and David had good games, but Tomi and Kylan didn't show up. They have to play better if illini are going to do anything in the tournament

I think he’s really starting to gel with the guys. From all accounts, he never stops working and wants to win. I hope he does come back next year but I would understand if he did not.
I will always hope that every eligible Illini returns to enjoy one more year together. Brad would need a couple of home run replacement for Hummer and Kylan, but that is possible. Of course, Keaton would have a tough decision, but he needs another year of physical maturity and strength development. But where are these guys gonna go to find a better group with which to play and win? Playing and winning is light years better than sitting on the bench in the NBA or G league. They all have significant development to make. I am hoping BU can find the $ support to get it done. I don't expect it to happen, but the probability is not zero.

Just nothing behind Tomi’s eyes right now. He looks medicated or something.

On Torvik there is a bigger gap between us and #7 Purdue just below us than there is between us and #1.
I think that's an example of lying with statistics.
Now is not the time to get complacent, over confident, in denial, whatever.
We did not play well tonight on many fronts.
Generally, too much sandlot ball.
Oregon just played worse.

Shout out to Oregon’s Nate Bittle. Son is 22 years old and somehow looks like he’s already gone through 3 divorces while working a job he hates for a decade.

Stojakovic had a rough (rough) game against Michigan. But he is still a potent weapon against many matchups. I bet his ability to get to the line makes a big difference in an important game, before it’s said and done.

Sincere gratitude for Ben, Kylan, and AJ.

I wonder if some of the Ben bad-mouthers felt a little bit like bad human beings, watching as he was honored… If so, that’s a healthy sign.

Senior Night is definitely a detail that contributes to the beauty and humanity of the college game.
You sir, are a poet.
