I couldn't have been the only one that saw Petro alone looking dejected end of bench, not engaged with anyone and then laying back in chair like he was asleep at the end there after he didn't even get the garbage time tick in favor of Redd/Fagbemi (or even Ben who'd already played a bit)

I was telling my son that I'm starting to feel sorry for Petro. He just can't get into a rhythm.

Some much needed cardiac relief ahead of the Bears game + Iowa matchup

He was interacting with Jake and David.

The guy is struggling and frustrated. Do you blame him for being dejected? He’s competitive.

Great win. Did what was expected against an overmatched opponent.

My goodness. Anyone who actually shares this view, I think you’re just better off learning your fate that you’ll never be happy. We literally won a BIG game by 26 — game was legitimately over in the first 10 minutes, never below 20 points in the second half. And we covered (line was 22.5).

What a joyous existence.

Did not actually see much of the second half due to the CFP but overall I would say the overall play was another small step forward which is a worthy goal when playing a team at the level Rutgers displayed in the first half. Tip of the hat to the Scarlet Knights for stepping up their game in the second half....and Jake Davis for doing his job in spades.

OMG, just because someone points out that we are playing sloppy in the 2nd half and that Brad might be justified in being a little upset at a time out and people think we lost our minds. Two things can be true: I can enjoy a 26 point blowout and I can be proud of this team and also point out that we are playing sloppy on the 2nd half (which we were). It doesn't mean I don't love the Illini and this team. Get a grip people, it's a message board and people point out what's going on and how they are feeling. If you don't like it, you can block me or continue on reading other posts that fit your your view and ignor mine. Or keep complaining, I really could care less. Pardon me for being Mr. Obvious and pointing out that we were not playing up to par in the 2nd half after an amazing 1st half.

Good win. Tomi played well. Wonder why Big z didn't play much in the 2nd half. Give Tomi more time on the floor.

What has happened so far in this post game thread that would warrant a rant like this? Too civil in here for you?

Saved a far amount of energy to use against IA is the way I prefer to look at it.

5 posts from tonight’s game. All from the second half.

A coincidence I suppose.

long arms and the extra 4 inches do wonders here

For sure. I smiled a few times seeing Rutgers guys peaking backwards to see where the defenders were at.

Both those two and Boswell also do a good job of using that momentum to run back into the defensive rebounding picture too. Absolutely love it

I'm tired of being attacked tonight for pointing out that we were playing lackluster in the 2nd half.

Rutgers is really bad. And so you crushed them like you were supposed to.

- I've been Petros biggest fan...however, I just dont think he can play an all around game that works at this level. Small, no defense, soft and passive. Its a shame, but I may have to sell my stock. I was so hopeful...but I think I may just have been wrong

- We are 12-3 and ranked at 16 with wins over Texas Tech, Tennessee and 2 games down to the wire with a good Alabama team and a sneaky good Nebraska team. We have one of the best Freshmen in the country playing point, and our offense continues to be ranked very high.

IMO think folks have moved into this, like "Yea I don't care until we get to the final 4"..."Yea a 25 point win at home is nothing to me"..."Yea but I hate some of our coaches"..."Yea but the Nebraska game"..."Yea but you should have beat Rutgers by more in the 2nd half... blah blah blah

I'll say it. I'm enjoying the season.

I'm enjoying a 25 point win over Rutgers. Its a joy to watch Keaton play for us. Z is a fun player to root for. Mirk keeps me on the edge of my seat.

I dunno if they are a final 4 team, odds are probably not...but we are no doubt one of the best team in the country, have been a winning program since Brad has been here and we'll have warranted championship aspirations all year.

I dunno, just take one second and be like "Yea, I'm glad I get to root for this team"

Then go back into darkness.

Good game. On to the next one. I did not watch much of the second half due to college football. No matter who the opponent was, it was impressive that they did not score 20 points in the ist half.
