It's pointless. There are a few posters here who wake up at 5 a.m. to start their day as That Guy.
If they take issue with a post (and they will, it's their entire schtick), if they can twist your point into something they can take issue with, they will call you out relentlessly no matter how much tongue you have in your cheek, or how many attempts you make to clarify something you posted.
When they can't counter your actual point, they will build obnoxious strawman arguments even though they don't know what that means.
It's the people we've all dealt with in meetings, school, and extended family and friends gatherings.
That Guy.
The thread goes 10 more pages because of That Guy.
The meetings last 2 hours longer because of That Guy.
Class can't move forward because of That Guy.
You dread going out and meeting a group of friends because of That Guy.
You can barely last through the holidays because one of your cousins or uncles is That Guy.
They can't wait to prove their point and/or prove you wrong. Their life is so devoid of recognition and acceptance that they simply must strive each and every day to Prove Their Point.
And they Just. Can't. Let. It. Go.
If you call them out they will feign being "attacked" and pretend they are "just trying to understand what you're saying".
