I think Mirk was affected by the increased speed of the players in this game, and to me, he needs to improve his footwork to be able to handle that better. In the MSN top 100. Stoj was #10 and Bos #11 guards in BIG and Tomi #2 center.
Neb’s Mast wasn’t on center list and Bittle was #1 so I personally think the are looking at stats more than team contribution. Stats for our guys are not likely to be that impressive because we probably have eight guys who could be the leading scorer in any individual game.
After last night performance the only defensive position that I would worry about is Mirk and not because he is bad but there are some really good players at his position ala K-Renn, Lendeborg, Martinelli. Depth is also going to help our defense because there won’t be much drop off with Z, Ben and Petro.
This is a tremendous take on the call. I have officiated for 25 years in HS, this play happens all the time. The crew on this game will hear about this call in review. We want the “fouling” team to do it in a way that does not cause injury. If the rules per intentional foul are to be enforced as the call was last night, we will need to rewrite the rule as that would not allow “foul to stop the clock”. Simply a terrible call?Anyone who is a competitor, an athlete, and has played basketball, knows that "intentional foul" situations are oddly strange. You are trying to do something you spend most of defensive playing time trying not to do. And most true competitors with integrity, try to, out of respect for other competitors, commit a foul without exposing them to any type of injury. Boswell tried to commit a foul in a way that the officials had to make a call, without exposing the opposing player to any type of unfortunate injury. To classify that foul as flagrant, even though it was intentional, is beyond absurd.
We had fouls to give. It was a strategic play. And certainly not flagrant.
No matter what the rule says (how it is defined or worded), the official has some discretion about how the play on the court is interpreted. This was a pathetic interpretation of the events.
At least that is my interpretation.
Thought that TT was the ideal team for Ty to be utilized. TT is scrappy and Ty's defense ad rebounding would of bee great for this game.Ty would be the second guy who would come to mind for me, since we are missing our starting center...
I can’t believe Mihailo, Brandon Lee & Ty are getting sprinkled into this
There's no such thing as a sprinkle of Tomislav Ivisic.…and Tomi?
Yeah, but Seth Davis was on the board the other day and said that Stojakovic was "not playable" vs Texas Tech, so he needed to get back on right side of things. What people said yesterday and got a lot of pushback on here
Now Seth Davis is saying it
It's over, pack it up. We cant score againOur Points per game average drops to an unsightly 102 ppg.
That roughly equals 2 weber games worth!
All this is true but I'll bet we get jobbed somewhere down the road. It all balances out in the end. Take the win.3 points attempts were the same (22 vs 22). Texas Tech had more shot attempts in the paint.
Texas Tech had 20 assists.
IL had 5.
Stats don’t lie. Texas Tech shot 4 FTs for the entire game.
Toppin himself had 25 Shot Attempts. He shot 1 FT for the entire game. I’ve never seen an offensive player attempt 25 shots and shoot 1 FT. And it’s not like those shots were outside shots. He attempted 2 threes.
Reverse these team stats and this thread would be talking about the worst officiating in years especially if it had been in TT’s home court
They literally called a flagrant on a take foul IN THIS GAME.All this is true but I'll bet we get jobbed somewhere down the road. It all balances out in the end. Take the win.
Bingo.Best case for Ty is mid January … That’s best case scenario …
Even then, very limited minutes if any minutes as roles will be set …
Probably at Michigan St.All this is true but I'll bet we get jobbed somewhere down the road. It all balances out in the end. Take the win.
They've been owning us for awhile, no? At least we've won some the last couple of years...That was just the ninth time we have welcomed a ranked non-conference opponent into the House of 'Paign, and it was our first win in such matchups in 13 years! Obviously they don't happen that often (as seen below), but I for one feel great getting that monkey off of our back! No home losses this year, please

When you can do what either of them does so well, you really don't need to do what the other one does. But their game around the paint is more similar than you think.Again Terrence did it mostly in the Fast Break. He does not have an offensive game like Andrej, of course small sample size with us so far.
Is there one play in the game where you could look and say it should've been foul call on Illinois and wasn't? As far I remember we were just content to give up uncontested layups.3 points attempts were the same (22 vs 22). Texas Tech had more shot attempts in the paint.

In my opinion we should've fouled more (other than Boswell). Is there one play in the game where you could look and say it should've been foul call on Illinois and wasn't? As far I remember we were just content to give up uncontested layups.
You saw what happened when we tried to foul more -- we got T'd up. Good thing we didn't start fouling earlier, or we would have had multiple guys ejected lol.In my opinion we should've fouled more (other than Boswell).
