Refreshing basketball tonight. It's sucks to sit some of these guys, but let's win some games.

Best game of the year. We just couldn't miss. Nice lift from TJL and Kipper.

As much as I bash Mav for his lack of D and rebounding, he is really good offensively and he played pretty good TEAM defense tonight.

Lucas and Kipper make mistakes and don't defend anybody, but it's not like those aren't issues with the other guys. Those kids give us a spark. Especially Lucas. We threaten more of the floor with his vision and passing. Makes others better.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, but that was a really good performance. Let's stop beating our heads against the wall trying to stop people with bad defenders and just outscore everyone with our talent.

Have to give Groce a lot of credit, new rotation re-energized the team. Also thought he managed the game well, took smart timeouts before Michigan could make runs.

In the battle of the benches, Illinois won.

Beating Michigan's in a blowout in terms of bench production was great to see. Gonna need that against Maryland.

Great performance, a full two halves and all! I don't think we learned anything about our new rotation defensively except Kipper seems to be able to play defense in man (very limited sample size, obviously), but the offense looked significantly more fluid and less agonizing (to watch, and for the players to play in!).

I hope the rotation changes continue to have a major impact, and MD will be the start of determining if this is for real or just fool's gold/a case of us abusing a team that didn't have a real scouting report for KN/TJL (who were certainly the difference tonight). It's definitely nice to beat up on a (much worse than I thought) bad/mediocre Michigan team.

Tracy may see himself move towards the bench, another meh showing from him, and TJL was great. TJL isn't an amazing athlete, but his feel for the game is quite possibly the best of anyone on the team. Some really good stuff there, he makes the offense move more than Tate or Abrams can, even without necessarily scoring.

Kipper exceeded my expectations. I thought we had overhyped him, but he was excellent. Really gave us a lot on both ends, and I think he can play 4 with anyone at 5 and keep us afloat on the glass and defensively. Really offers us some great versatility.

One thing that may go unmentioned is that AJ may be working towards carving a niche as a defensive specialist in limited minutes. He brings excellent energy and focus on that end - very active and working hard.

Overall, excellent stuff. I had fun! Go :illinois:

I was very impressed by Kipper. I want to see much more of him. Love his energy and aggressiveness.

Really good offensive execution. Hopefully a lot was learned, even against the porous Michigan defense, but I'm excited to see what happens against MD. Hopefully Groce keeps the same rotations (although I wouldn't mind seeing Thorne get some tick just to give the other bigs a breather).
