Should we call this team the Marathon Men? They just outlasted Texas tonight. The Longhorns had nothing left in the tank and we took the game from them. What an amazing win. Way to go, guys. And a special thanks to Fletch for training these guys to handle 40 plus minutes of intense hoops action.

I don't want to be accused of being someone who complains about the officiating every time we lose. That being said, we won and the refs really sucked. That was not a neutral court. Makes the win even sweeter.
Haha, you'll always be in good company here.
I mean, I know it's never called but Marcus Carr carried the ball all night.
Nice to pull out the win against adversity

ILL. Just getting started
I'm driving my stepson from NE to Champaign Friday night for the courtside shoot around stuff Saturday morning before PSU then turning around after the game and driving back. I'm literally at Ted Lasso level of belief this year.

Thinking about how Epps had 50+ friends and family show up to the Maryland game, and he barely saw the floor due to ticky-tack fouls and missed what would have been the go-ahead 3 with 1 minute to go. Then he turns around and forces overtime in The Garden with a massive 3 and 2 huge pressure free throws. Not to mention an incredibly tough take when it looked like Texas might retake the lead in OT. Kid is tough as nails.

Of our 4 freshmen, Epps and Harris have adjusted faster to big time college basketball than Clark has, and Rodgers is still lost. Over time, all of them will be solid players for the Illini, and this will be remembered as one of our best classes.

Four initial postgame thoughts:

1. What back injury? Mayer came to play.

2. Jayden Epps is a grown-a$$ man

3. The boys broke the huddle for OT, walked to the circle, and flat out took the Horns’ lunch money in the ensuing 5 mins.

4. It’s December 6th.

Monster victory. So proud of this team.
Hey bro........I posted last week that Jayden Epps is gonna be an Illini great ..........I have watched how he goes about his business on the court and he is ALL business.................

great poker face on the court and so mature for a true freshman................

I noticed before the Illini run to get the game into overtime that when Epps came and took over for Skyy that the team settled down and ran their offense a whole lot better , protecting the ball and playing with a concentrated purpose to win this game........I thought if we can only get this game into OT that our true TEAM play would take over .........

Conditioning again played a big part in this win.............With the depth we have and when Luke gets back I believe we can beat anyone in the country.........

Just replay the game and you will see MM carried us in the first half ..........................

Second half was a conundrum with ut going on a 16-2 run and then.........................RJ came alive and Epps with a big 3 and clutch FT's andthe defense stepped up with a total of 12 or 13 blocks..........

TSJ came alive in the OT and we won.........

Any player on any given night can lead us to victory...........

I know we did not play the cleanest game but I've never witnessed a game where the underdog beats the #2 ranked team and the announcers continually say negative things about the underdog and nothing negative about the higher ranked team being outplayed.

Who called pregame for Mayer with breakout? alot of contributions at key times by many. In end our D and stopping turnovers were key to our game recovery.

Stop the turnovers, make FTs....
and we will compete with anyone.
Agreed!

Rodgers has to completely rework his shooting form or he can never be more than a role player, which is fine, but I’m sure he wants more than that. He should start over now when not a lot is needed from him yet.
