Illinois 86, Nebraska 70 Postgame

I get your point but interesting to talk about ‘more important than the team” when talking about an individual achievement. Don’t agree with him, but get where he’s coming from. I rooted more for Ayo’s triples than I was for Andre’s.
big difference between rooting more for one guy than actually being glad another guy didn't get an achievement.

I often question Underwood. But I will never deny that he cares about his players and treats them as family, and I believe truly cares about the University. For that I am very grateful. I am ecstatic to see that he is piiiissssed at the league for not only the Ayo issue but the Kofi issue and the scheduling issue. Whitman better be burning the phone and zoom lines this week getting some answers and holding people in Chicago accountable for the crap sandwiches they have been feeding us all season, and really, for many many seasons.

This whole discussion about being glad Curbelo didn’t get a triple double is ridiculous. We have had 4 triple doubles in program history and half of those belong to Ayo this February. Get over yourselves, celebrate great performances when we witness them.

These games are recruiting pitches within themselves. Come to Illinois where you have the ability to highlight all facets of your game. Triple doubles, double doubles, thunder dunks, alley-oops, spot up 3’s, shut down D, come and play for meeee.

As a fanbase, I hope we feel a little better after tonight? Our top guy was out and we put together a well balanced game. Started pretty flat but then we got going. Four guys in double figures, four guys with 7 or more boards, and a great effort on D by Trent, as always.

Onto Saturday, will we have Masked Ayo? Who knows, but tonight we got done what needed done.

I was super critical of our MSU performance but you gots to admit we really addressed some glaring issues and looked better tonight. It really looked like each person attempted to address a weakness tonight. Damonte shooting a bit more and driving to the basket (didn't really finish after driving but baby steps). Miller dropping some threes AND taking it to the rim more that a couple times. Kofi was Kofi - kept his composure and made some free throws! Nice job by the big man. Curbello had a game. He still made a couple typical Curbello mistakes but I thought he was really trying to turn it down a notch and play more controlled, more disciplined ball. Curb is going to be dangerous next year; anyone calling him a liability - man I don't see it. Curbello is all upside. Trent had yet another game. Georgi looked strong at times off the bench. They played a little more loose like I was hoping to see. Well done to all of them. Really the only bad news was we continue to react when baited into those technicals. We have to smile and walk away and take the foul shots; don't let them get in our heads. Even the ref's improved and wouldn't let Nebraska beat up Kofi inside. Finally had fun watching what was a fairly close game. Felt bad for Ayo - get better soon man, but I was impressed to see how everyone on the team responded and stepped up in his absence. Nice job. Freshmen looked great tonight.

Agree with all, plus Grandison.

Another point about Curbelo's performance...as quick as the pitchforks come out pointed at BU here after losses...how about some recognition for the coaching and system that lead to this kind of performance from a FRESHMAN.
The same for Ace's growth on defense. These kids clearly buy in to what BU is doing....and it's working.

BU is doing a fantastic job leading his staff, and this team.
