Tre White is gangster.

Jakucionis is a criminal mastermind.

And Kylan Boswell is that dude you pull up with when it’s time for somebody to pay up.

“Where my money at, coach Gard? It’d be a shame if somethin were to happen to you like it did to Juwan [cold stare].”

The Underwood Illini got the Badgers on a MF orange leash.

With regards to Ben, I decided to track him this game just to see how the eyes compared to reality, and yeah, he had a rough night on both sides of the ball. The shots he took were high quality, just didn't fall. Shooters gotta shoot, so I don't blame him for that. On the boards, Ben really struggled- he does show effort but his reaction time is slow and he doesn't have proper positioning or strength to effectively get and secure the boards or box out. By my count he gave up 5 2nd chance opportunities. It wasn't pretty.

As for shooting defense, he was consistently out of position and in reactionary trailing position. He did get back to contest the opportunity in several cases enough for Wisconsin not to shoot, though the window was still there. The player's stat line who he was guarding in a given possession:

16pts on 7 of 11 shooting

I'll try continuing to track this as the season goes on

I was also watching Ben quite a bit on defense and to be fair to him there were several times he was trying to recover to his guy after being the help man for someone else. He did a pretty decent job of cutting off a couple drives when KJ got beat but then Wisconsin was able to move the ball to his guy who took advantage. It was easier for me to see it live than in person but being a solid help defender is probably a big part if why his defensive grades are high. He's actually in the right position most of time.

My concern with Ben is that he's too nice and BU was getting on him late in the game for not securing some of those rebounds, especially the FTs. He needs more nasty to his game to really be effective at this level.

Will is suffering the effects of being small right now. He's getting bullied by B1G players and consistently getting knocked off his spots on offense plus his shooting has been slumping.

During on of his FTs late in the game Kylan was also barking at Dra for not playing tougher on D. He's really turning into the leader on this team now he just needs to be that consistently and not get in his head when the shots don't fall.

I understand questioning things here and there but it's always funny reading these posts that authoritatively claim to have more acumen than a top 10 D1 coach making millions while they fat old crusty bums sit in their recliner with their cheese balls and honey roasted nuts.

Anyway we should all be patient with Ben (and the rest of the guys too) when they hit a rough patch. Lot of these people were ready to send Kylan back to Arizona after the first couple of games.

Especially true with inexplicably mediocre to bad free throw percentage. It's barely above Rez's.

I don't see anyone doing that at all. And I don't believe anyone is being "impatient" with Ben. Only wondering why he is currently receiving the significant majority of minutes over other guys who seem to be able to positively impact the game. It's more than fair for fans to debate playing time. It happens in every sport, at every level.

Lot of people really losing their minds over it, let's be very honest. Just go through the game threads and post game threads and see how toxic some of the responses are. I see a ton of people on here that claim to have all of the answers, so we can agree to disagree.

I mean, case in point, just earlier in this thread we have a guy who is going to track Ben's defense by marking a negative against him (likely anytime the. ball is scored and he's nearby lol). It's like uh no thanks- I'll stick to the existing metrics that the D1 coaches who know what they're doing actually use.

Coach Brad stated in post game press conference. Ben had graded higher than any other player 6 out of 7 games", defensively.
I wanna know by what measurements? I would say it's time for PREVAGEN.

There may be a few outliers, but for the most part I think people on this board are just concerned about the team and want us to put a good product on the floor that we can be proud of. It's a fan board for voicing our opinions for crying out loud. That's what these fan forums are. It's not a lets hail the coach and players and all they do is great. I don't like people making things personal against anyone, especially our team and coaches. But that is part of a fan forum and frankly, I usually just take things with a grain of salt scroll on by.

I have a question that I know the coaches won't see, or answer, so I'll ask here.

It seems that we routinely get blown by with the 1st step and it's happened since Brad got here A LOT! Is this part of our defensive scheme? Are we slow? Are we suseptible to jab steps? I feel my basketball IQ is pretty high, but it blows my mind.

I bet we got smoked 15+ times last night by slow guys from Wisconsin and Northwestern the last 2 games.

not arguing with that point, cause Id struggle at coaching a YMCA team, but can you tell us what youve seen the last two games with Ben H? From my perspective, it looks like he is struggling mightily. I 100% get you gotta let shooters shoot, but the guy is getting crushed on D and regularly doesn't block out which leads to points.

Maybe its something Im not seeing.

Ben’s been the highest graded defender on the team in 6 games….Brads not just making that up

Anyone have anything on Tomi? He wasn't himself last night. Thought he looked exhausted at times last night, maybe sick? Someone else mentioned maybe he has an ankle that's bothering him. In addition to looking exhausted/sick in the face, there was a possession or two where he should've jumped to contest a shot, but just didn't.

When someone posts that he will keep track of Ben's mistakes and keep everyone informed, it is getting out of hans.
